Wow. If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I definitely would! Probably it deserves about 10. It is as beautiful, comfortable, luxurious and well located as a house can be. I'm spoiled for my own bed due to the amazing comfort of the master bed in this house. The garden is to die for, lush with plants and chock full of beautiful birds, including hummingbirds who come visit the flowering trees and plants all day. There is also a large deck on which we enjoyed many breakfasts, and of course the hot tub is divine. We just used it once, but if we hadn't been so busy, would've taken advantage more. The house is so nice and so well equipped for cooking and dining that you may not find yourself wanting to go out much, but if you do, it is just a few blocks walk to numerous restaurants, cafes, shops, even a book store, and the jewelry store where my spouse and I bought our wedding bands some 20 years ago. :-) Whole Foods and Peet's Coffee are nearby (there are 3 Peet's Coffees in walking distance, hallelujah!). Willard Park, a few blocks away, is a pleasant place to go to play frisbee, or just to watch people juggle and do acrobatics and strum their guitars in the sunshine. UC Berkeley is a fairly short distance to the north; my son and I walked there one day. It is really easy and quick to get to all the beautiful hiking areas of the East Bay; from the house it's just a 15 minute drive to Tilden Nature Area, which is gorgeous and has many long and short hikes to do starting in the vicinity of Jewel Lake, where we saw deer, turtles and countless birds. All in all a fantastic place to stay, so easy to get around and such a comfortable, elegant house to come home to at the end of the day! We cannot recommend it enough.
