The Tropical Mango House is in the historic Miami Shenandoah neighborhood of Little Havana, walking distance to Calle Ocho and very close to Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, Brickell, Mid-Town and Downtown, 20 min from South Beach. Two bedrooms with comfortable queen size beds, fully equipped kitchen, hammock and a wonderful porch.
This house has undergone a full renovation last year and everything is new or redone. The house is surrounded by a lush tropical garden.
This is NOT a party house.
The Tropical Mango House was built in the late 1930's and we recently lovingly renovated it. Everything inside is new, redone in early 2017. We named it after baby Mango tree, an exquisite Fairchild cultivar in the yard, and will soon paint the house a tropical Mango color!
There are two bikes available for guests, please let us know in advance if you would like to use them, and we will make sure they are ready to go explore Miami.
The house has a large open living room, dining room, full kitchen with a dishwasher, breakfast nook, 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and a sun room with an indoor hammock. Please note the Mango house is not toddler proof and is NOT a party house.
Each bedroom has a queen size bed with nightstands.
The living room has a very comfortable couch (can be used as bed).
No need to pack sheets, and blankets, we provide those.
The bathroom has been fully redone, in 1930s period style. It has a shower, not a tub. We will provide towels, a hair dryer, shampoo and body wash.
The kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals:
microwave, stove, toaster, coffee maker, dishwasher, dishes and pots.
The outside side porch has a table with chairs, ceiling fan, counter and sink, so you can enjoy outdoor dining and conversation any time! There is also an electrical outlet if you want to work on your laptop outdoors.
A hammock is hanging in the garden in case you want to read a book, have a cocktail, take a nap, in other words, take it easy!
We recently put in dozens of native South Florida plants, including many to attract butterflies and birds. We also planted non-native plants for their fruit, including bananas, papayas, pineapples, mango and avocado. As is typical of subtropical areas, the yard is full of lizards, butterflies - it’s fun to watch them.
There is a small rented cottage (Avocado Cottage) in the back yard. However, our garden is designed to give both sets of guests privacy.
Our Guests have access to the whole Tropical Mango house, a covered car port, shared laundry room and most of the garden.

We live only a few minutes away and stop by the property almost every day to tend to the garden. If we are going somewhere interesting on the weekend, we give our guests an opportunity to come along, or we suggest cultural or nature activities even if we cannot make it.
Our big friendly dog regularly comes with us to the house to keep us company while we work in the garden. He loves meeting new guests and is quick to make friends.
We want you to enjoy our house but please note this in NOT a party house. All guests must be respectful of the property, neighbors and neighborhood. This is our house, not a hotel, and maintaining a good relationship with our neighbors is very important to us.
We want you to enjoy your stay at the Tropical Mango House while also respecting our property. Do remember this is not a hotel, it is our house.

I am engineer from Europe. I have owned the house in Plantation since 2003 and my girlfriend Kiki and I bought the house with the Avocado Cottage in 2015. I do engineering consulting work, which has me traveling often. Kiki does environmental education - she is a good person to ask about native flora and fauna, and eco-tourism.
I am also into the outdoors, I enjoy dragon boating, scuba diving, hiking, kayaking, sailing, biking, and camping. And of course I love to travel.
