B&B La rosa de Isabel is proud to welcome you at our 20th century home! We own a colonial house that was built in 1920 by a spanish family. With its original floors, its marble columns, high ceilings and many windows. Our home is a clean, spacious and relaxing place for you to rest and enjoy your stay in Cuba. The house has two living room areas, decorated as in 1920 with classical and comfortable furniture, there is also a balcony with a good view of the street, 5 bedrooms, a kitchen where Isabel prepares the meals. For 4 CUC per person you can have breakfast, for 8 CUC per person you can have authentic cuban meals in our a roofed terrace or in our dining room, up in the roof there is an open terrace where you can tan, have a drink and admire the most beautiful views of a classic Havana neighbourhood. This space is not suitable for children.
All of the rooms are equipped with air conditioning, a door lock, a safe so you can store you valuable items, a closet for your clothing and luggage, and a comfortable bed.
Isabel will make sure you always have clean and fresh towels and sheets, she will clean your room everyday and make sure you have everything you need.
This bedroom has an en suite bathroom for your comfort. As well as a private terrace.
This room is the 4th room we have available. It is also the one that has the most privacy. Apart from this room the entire house spaces are at your disposal except for the family and other guests' bedrooms. Feel free to use them as if you were in your own house!
House keys: Please note that we do not give our guests the keys to the house or the rooms, the reasons are simple; first you will not need to worry about loosing them and having to pay a fee; second, each house is tricky in terms of locks and bolts, in our home there are a few doors to unlock before you get to your room, we save you from the hassle.
So, when you go out and enjoy your time, be it morning, afternoon or late at night, just ring the bell and someone will open the doors for you, and do not feel bad, the family is used to it and will welcome you in with pleasure!
Inviting locals: If you have cuban friends and you wish to invite them to spend time with you in our home, note that they will need to provide us with their ID information; the cuban government does not authorize us to let them in and visit you in your room. The person can stay in our living room or our terrace at reasonable hours. We excuse ourselves for the inconvenient and suggest you to use your judgement and respect this house rule, which we have no choice but to enforce.

The entire family; Isabel, her husband Felix and their daughter Yunia, will be more than happy to help you with directions to places you wish to visit in the city or, to provide you with any type of service at home or simply to chat.
Isabel is very ressourful and an excellent cook, Felix is a retired bus driver and knows Havana and Cuba like the palm of his hand and Yunia is very dynamic and kind. Isabel and Felix speak only spanish, Yunia gets around in basic english, we understand this can be challenging sometimes that is why we have guidebooks of Havana in different languages. The whole family is very social and friendly; we have no doubt you will be able to communicate without much difficulty and maybe learn some spanish in the process! My name is Enrique and I am the nephew of Isabel and Felix, my role is to provide you with all the information you may need so you can have the best time in Havana. I can also assist you in any request you could have prior to your departure and finally, I am the intermediary between you and the family in Cuba. I am fluent in Spanish, English, French and I can understand basic Italian. You can contact me anytime and I will be more than happy to help you. We all make a great team that will go the extra mile to ensure you have the most memorable stay at our home in Havana.
Internet access: It is important that you know that we do not have wi-fi or cable internet access in the house. In fact there are not many places and people in Cuba with such a service.
There are two ways you can connect to the internet. The first is that you have your own plan when you arrive in Cuba, you should make sure that your internet provider is aware of the country you are visiting, some providers offer temporary plans; however do not be surprised if access is slow or poor. The second option is to buy internet cards, Cuba's telecommunications company called "Etecsa" sells such cards for 2 CUC, you should have for about an hour of connection. To connect you should find parks around the city as well as in front of hotels, it would not be hard since you will see people standing by checking their cellphones, tablets and computers, then just follow the instructions on the card. Beware that wi-fi is often slow and poor quality.
There are also a few places near Etecsa centres, where you can have access to a desk computer. There is usually a line of people waiting to have access to one. It can be long sometimes.
Places to eat:
There are numerous restaurants where you can eat in Havana, they vary in price and type of cuisine. If you own a smartphone you can download an application called "A la mesa", you will have access to a good number of restaurants, most privatetly owned, this application will still be available even if you are not online. Remember that my aunt can also cook you delicious meals. Highly recommended!
Your stay at our home, which will be your home for the time you stay with us, will allow you to see, experience and live Cuba from the inside; we will make sure that when you leave, you will know more about Cuban culture, traditions and ways of living than when you first arrived. It will be a unique experience for you! We cannot wait to meet you and to welcome you to your home in Havana!
Looking for things to do in town?
It will be difficult to get bored in Cuba!
Isabel, her husband Felix and their daughter Yunia welcome you to your home in Havana! The house rules are simple. First of all, we offer a non-smoking environment, if you do smoke you can do so in the street, or on our roof terrace, please do not smoke inside your bedroom, bathroom or shared spaces. Second of all, we do not tolerate prostitution, drugs or excess alcohol consumption. Also, as you have access to most areas in the house, except for the family's bedroom, we kindly ask you to take care of our property and to respect other guests' privacy. If you wish to have visitors, they be Cuban or foreigner, they are not allowed in your bedroom for safety reasons, we will have to record their names and see identification before they are allowed in.
Other pertinent information: Transport from airport; A taxi fare from Havana airport is between 20 C.U.C to 30 C.U.C, depending on the type of car and the hour (evening rides can be a bit more expensive). Always agree on the price with the driver before accepting the ride and show our address. We encourage you to take a government owned taxi, they are often yellow and display their taxi sign on their roof. Our full address is; Desagüe 116 e/ Marquez Gonzales y Oquendo, Centro Habana. In order to make sure the driver takes the shortest route, say the house is located about 4 blocks from Plaza Carlos Tercero, a well known commercial center, also say we are a block away from Teatro Lazaro Peña and two blocks from Partagas Cigar Factory on Belascoain street.
Currency (C.U.C); If you need money to pay the taxi fare, you can exchange your currency into Cuban Convertible Pesos (C.U.C) at the airport. You don’t want to exchange all you are carrying since the exchange rates are higher than in other bank branches. If you need to exchange your currency while in Havana, there is a bank a few blocks from home where you can do so or you can do it in other banks while exploring the city. If you are driving, ask for directions using the same references. A family member will be waiting for you, just ring the bell and will be more than happy to assist you with your luggage. Our street is quiet and parking is allowed 24/7. If you need a taxi to go places within the city or elsewhere, just ask Isabel and she will call one for you. Make sure you ask with some time in advance since there can be some delay.
Check in and other services offered; When you check in at our house (after 3 pm) we will record in our guests registry some of your passport information, which is a required procedure in Cuba for rental operators. If you happen to arrive before 3 pm, we can store your luggage until your room will be available. Upon arrival, a family member will take you around the house to show you the spaces you can use.
Breakfast is 4 CUC per person, if you have a special request or suffer from any type of food allergy, do not hesitate to let us know. We will offer you a juice serving, coffee, milk, and Cuban bread, you will also be able to choose an egg dish, be it boiled, omelet, fried or scrambled eggs. Your breakfast will be accompanied with fruits of the season.
Dinner: “Eating like a Cuban”. 8 CUC per person. Each morning at breakfast time, you will be able inform Isabel if you want her to prepare dinner for you.
Room; Safety box; As your bedroom has a safety box for you to keep your valuable items, we will show you how it works upon arrival.
Sheets and towels; You will be welcomed with a fresh set of sheets and towels, which we will change upon request. Your room and washroom will be cleaned everyday, though Isabel will not move your suitcases of clothing. Among other services; we can wash, dry and fold your laundry for a flat fee of 5 C.U.C.
Wandering around; Our neighborhood is safe at all hours, feel free to go for walks and explore the surrounding area, as a safety suggestion, use common sense as you would do where you live, avoid wearing too much jewelry in crowded places and keep your personal belongings with you at all times.
Drinks and water; At home, we boil and filter our water which we offer you free of charge. Just ask the family!
Our last suggestion would be to come and see us if you need anything, we will be more than pleased to serve you and make of your stay in our home and in Havana a memorable one!
