PLEASE NOTE: Due to the severe drought in the Southern Cape, the City of Cape Town has imposed Level 5 water restrictions. This means the pool is out of service until further notice as Municipal water may not be used to fill pools. Guests are also asked to please only shower and not use the baths. Watering of plants with Municipal water is also not allowed; there are buckets in the showers to catch water for the plants on the upstairs balcony and/or plants just over the downstairs balcony. Your support in helping Cape Town to save water is much needed and much appreciated.
This is a family home but all personal belongings have been cleared from bedrooms and bathrooms. The house has many of our much loved books which guests are welcome to enjoy during their stay.
The house is fully alarmed and connected to a security response company. Our home is on a cul de sac and we are part of a successful neighbourhood security initiative which offers additional security.
People from all backgrounds are welcome but the place is not particularly suitable for children under 6 years old as the staircase inside and access to the mountain garden outside is not child-friendly. The pool has a solid safety cover, but children would still need to be supervised outside for their own safety. As noted above, the pool it currently out of service due to the water restrictions until further notice.
The driveway up to the house and garage is steep but accessible for all sedan cars regardless of engine size. If you are not comfortable with the driveway, street parking is available but this is not behind locked gates.
The Western Cape has been in the grip of a severe drought for many months and our dams are empty. Please use water as sparingly as possible. This includes only showering and not using the bath.
The pool has a solid safety cover which must remain on as the pool is currently out of service due to the City of Cape Town water restrictions.
The indoor fireplace is great for heating the house during the cold winters and the outside braai (barbecue) is fantastic for outdoor cooking and living, but both must be used responsibly. Instructions for use will be provided on arrival.
Simonskloof is a quiet and peaceful neighbourhood. We want guests to enjoy themselves and have a good time, but please be mindful of neighbours and keep noise down as much as possible.
Guests are welcome to smoke on the downstairs verandah and upstairs balcony. Ashtrays are provided.
