The Hideaway is close to the beach and a 10 minute drive from the village set in a rural location. It is self contained annex attached to the owners accommodation. It has one bedroom with a comfy super king sized bed in it, a large bathroom and a lounge with a kitchenette at one end and a comfortable small double sofa bed so that up to 4 guests can be accommodated. It is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets).
You could not ask for a better place for a peaceful break away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The Hideaway is less than a 10 minute drive from Kames and Tighnabruaich with all the amenities that this lovely little village has to offer, 3 pubs/restaurants, a bistro, a village store, delicatessen, art gallery, Spar shop, post office and tea room and stunning views over to Bute, and yet you can enjoy our isolated rural location and the peace and quiet. We are situated at the very start of the track that leads down to gorgeous Ostel Bay (aka Kilbride Bay), the jewel in the crown of Argylls secret coast, you can take a 15-20 minute stroll down the track and admire the views to Arran on the way and then when you get to the bay be amazed at the beautiful secluded sandy beach with Arran directly in front of you. On sunny days you may be joined by a few other people but if you come out of season or on more overcast days you will quite often be the only people there... bliss!! Just sit there and let the rest of the world disappear.
The Hideaway is formed from an annex which is attached to Kilbride Farmhouse and yet is a comfortable and completely seperate dwelling at the same time. You have your own access via the patio doors at the rear of the property and your own little pathway down the side of it to get to the patio. There is a spacious bedroom with a super king sized bed which a previous guest has described as being so comfortable its like sleeping on a cloud! The bathroom is spacious with a lovely deep bath, a separate shower cubicle, a WC and wash hand basin. Towels are supplied for you. The lounge has a small kitchenette at one end with a fridge, electric hob, combi microwave/convection oven, kettle, toaster and sink. There is a small dining table and 4 chairs. The lounge area itself has a comfy sofa that converts to a double bed plus a rocking chair that you can sit and admire the view in. There is a TV with freeview channels and there is internet access. You may not get a signal on your mobile phone so for your peace of mind we have supplied a courtesy mobile phone which is attached to our booster and is for emergency use and incoming calls or to call a taxi to the village or make bookings at local establishments. You have your own private patio and whilst you share our garden we will not disturb you. There is a babbling burn running down the garden and directly down the side of The Hideaway.

We try to make ourselves available at all times during your stay but we will not disturb you by constantly being on your doorstep. When we do leave the premises you will always be able to contact us via the list of phone numbers supplied.
We love people to bring their well behaved pets with them. We have cats and dogs ourselves. Our dogs are contained in their own securely fenced area but the garden area to The Hideaway is not securely fenced so we ask people to observe their dogs when outside at all times and to clear up any mess they make. We also ask that you kindly take the necessary precautions to protect the furniture and carpets from dogs wet and sandy from the beach. We expect any damage caused by pets or guests to be paid for in full. If you want to go out somewhere for a day or evening and cannot take your dog with you we are happy for you to leave it in The Hideaway and we will take care of it for you - we may make a small charge for this. There is also a dog sitter locally who will take day borders.
- Well behaved dogs welcome but the garden is not secure so they need to be observed outside at all times. Any damage caused by pets will need to be paid for in full by the guest. Their is a small inflatable bed that is suitable for a child. There is a burn running along the side of The Hideaway so children will need to be supervised.
My husband Moris and I live in the house which our little holiday home is attached to. We both work in hospitality and cooking is our expertise. Moris is a classically trained chef with many years of high end cooking under his belt as both a head and an executive chef and although I am not a trained chef I am a pretty good cook and have spent many years running my own kitchen back in the days when I used to have a pub B & B. These days we tend to work as a team and during the summer months we run a small pop up cafe in the grounds of our home next to the track to beautiful Ostel Bay offering home baking, cream teas, home made soup, burgers, toasties and sandwiches and other delights. If you are looking for an evening meal we may be persuaded to cook a little something up for you to either eat in The Hideaway or to join us to eat in our kitchen - or the engine room as we call it!!
We are huge animal lovers and as I write we have 4 dogs of our own and 2 cats. I love to attend dog shows with my 2 deerhounds but our other 2 dogs are rescue dogs and I used to be very involved with a local dog rescue when we lived down south. We like nothing more than to wander down to the bay with the dogs in the evening when there is nobody else there.
Moris is a keen musician as well and if you are that way inclined would enjoy nothing more than getting out the guitars or some of the other instruments that are dotted about the house and having a wee session with you.
Where we live is probably our most favourite place in the world and we feel so blessed to be there and absolutely love having guests to stay that we can introduce to this beautiful area. We think the place has some kind of magical healing quality as people just seem to walk through the door and cast away the stresses and strains of busy everyday life and just instantly relax. Most people don't want to leave and we are always sad to see them go.
We always tell people to 'come and hide at Kilbride'.
