We have been living in this house since 1997. We have seen a lot of changes in our neighborhood. Many people have come here and bought houses for the express purpose of renting it on air bnb. They know nothing about the city, or our neighborhood.
There are two families left from the pre Katrina days and it is our neighbors across the street who we consider family and us.
Here is a pro tip;
If your host encourages you to not engage with the neighbors, it is a dead giveaway that they are not from here.
New Orleans is famous for its tight knit community. You can talk to almost anyone here. Today I got hugs from the lady checking receipts at Costco. Relax! It's normal.
I have been playing music around the city for better than twenty years. My family has been here five generations that we know of.
I love New Orleans and its rich history, but most of all I love how you can strike up conversations with total strangers.
I have met tourists from every part of the globe. I love to help people discover one of the most interesting cities in the world!
Did I say I love New Orleans?
Ps, All proceeds go towards our daughters education.
