After years of hosting and hundreds of happy guests, you can't make everyone happy. Unfortunately Rahul lied to me about how many guests were on his booking, was over 2 hours late to a check-in time that he selected, and was generally unresponsive to messages we sent him. He also didn't sleep at night and was inviting people over in the middle of the night, ordering food, and generally being disrepectful and noisy. After receiving texts and calls from my neighbors at 3AM regarding him, we politely informed him it was probably best he seeks a different accommodation. His comments about 'questioning his lifestyle' were in regards to me informing him that this suite was not a good fit for him as this is a quiet neighborhood with families, when asking him to find a different accomodation. And as a host, when other people complain to me about the noise, girls coming over, and hearing them having sex, when there are little kids in the adjacent unit, then ultimately we have to act on this. There are other types of accomodation that are probably better suited for Rahul, AirBNB is not it. This most likely all could have been avoided if Rahul responded to my offer to see the suite beforehand, or answered any of our messages in general through the check in process. He was given a generous refund, and continued to stay well past the checkout time that AirBNB staff asked him to check out on, and ultimately we as hosts suffered from the mess he left, the impact to our neighborhood, and his unfounded poor review he left us.
