Welcome to Villacolle!
Named after Pippi Longstockings wondrous house, our childhood country cottage will welcome you in the peace of its garden, under the shade of its pergola where to enjoy a delicious breakfast, and among the beautiful fields of the Itria Valley.
The house is annexed to a XIX-century trullo with which it shares the vast garden and one bedroom. Villacolle is your perfect country retreat, ideal for families and groups.
Villacolle has three bedrooms, one bathroom and a large living area with a kitchen, dining table and a beautiful fireplace.
The house has a long history - before it became the house where we spent all of our summers, winter holidays and nearly every weekend of the year it was the Convertini residence first, a restaurant called Ristoriante da Zia Renzina then.
The house has been transformed over the centuries, several cones were demolished and when Mrs. Renzina turned the old stone building into the dining areas she built an annex which she made her home and that is where you will stay.
Although connected and sharing the beautiful garden, the two sections are mostly independent units which will give you complete privacy.

*** IN DETAIL ***
Bedroom 1 - Andrea's room
This was my old room as a child and it's the room with a traditional stone cone roof. It has a double bed (that can be separated into two twin beds), my grandma's 1950s dresser and grandad's beautiful old trunk.
If you wish to use this room as a twin bedrooms, just let us know and we'll arrange it for you!
Bedroom 2 - The twin room
It's the room where my sister and I used to have great sleepover with our cousins when the entire family would gather at Villacolle for Christmas. It had two twin beds back in the old days and that's why we're used to calling it the twin room. Now it features a beautiful 1950'2 double bed and a closet.
Bedroom 3 - The Master bedroom
It was Renzina and her husband's bedroom. Now it has a beautiful turn-of-the-century iron bed, a large wooden trunk, a closet and a gorgeous view of the backyard.
The Living Area
The central piece of the large living area is the beautiful stone fireplace with oak benches and mantelpiece that connects to the large bookshelf that separates the kitchen from the rest of the room. Next to the fireplace is the late 1950's piano on which both my mother and I learned to play. At the opposite end of the room is the dining table with 1960's chairs that I recently reupholstered, a traditional charcoal heater and my grand father's army trunk with his initials.
Outside the house there's a vast stone yard called "aia" which was originally place for most daily and farming activities. It's made of the very stones we found inside the house while digging during restoration. There are seating areas under trees all around, a BBQ place, a woodfire oven and a grapevine pergola, the perfect place to have your breakfast in the spring and summer.
We really encourage you to make the most of every corer of Villacolle, the garden, the barbecue, the wood-fired oven. Make sure you have lunch at least once under the pine tree where it's breezy at noon in the summer, dinner under the pergola, tea under the walnut tree, and take a walk around the whole garden. Not all room in the trulli are accessible all the time.

You will be welcomed by my father, Lallo, who's more frequently in the area and myself whenever I'm there. He will give you the keys, will show you around and we will be at your disposal during your stay. At times we may also stay on the property.
I love to get to know people and learn stories; when receiving a request I always appreciate reading a word or two about yourself, what brings you to this corner of the globe, why you're interested in Villacolle.
Villacolle is an eco-friendly house. The house is served by a large water reserve that is right beneath the house where rainwater is gathered. So please remember not to waste water and it's advisable not to drink from the tap. We always take notice to leave drinking water in the fridge, although tap water is perfectly safe for cooking, brushing teeth, showering. Many traditional trulli used rainwater, Villacolle still does!
In winder time, the house is heated by gas as well as natural heating form the fireplace. When you turn on the fire the water that runs in pipes hidden in the wall behind heats up and enters the heating system of the house.
