This private, cozy cottage is perched on a hillside offering mountain and pastoral views to the west, with a private, custom waterfall bath and queen bed. There are 5 acres of mountain and sea views, extensive Japanese gardens, ponds, fir and cedar groves. This is a peaceful place for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and furry friends (pets). National Forest and Park trails are ten minutes away.

Prostor

The cottage is set on a hillside with beautiful westward views of the Olympic mountains. The setting is private and quiet, with guest access to the extensive gardens, ponds and water features. The cottage is 10' X 20' including the private bath. One entire wall of the cottage is glass with private views and a deck that wraps around three sides. There is an outside private and heated shower on the front deck. Inside there are warm wood floors and a custom bath that features a waterfall shower with stone from the local river. The cottage has cedar shingles and a metal roof, and is well insulated for heating and cooling. I have recently added a new waist-high fridge with freezer and microwave for my guests convenience. Guests still have access to the main house kitchen for cooking and storing food, but this should provide added independence. While individual guests and couples have found the cottage to have more than sufficient space, if you are considering bringing your dog, you may want to reconsider because of space considerations. I've had one guest who found this an issue with her large pet dog.

Dostupno gostima

The cottage sits apart from the main residence and has a private access and parking area. The cottage literally sits amidst the Douglas Fir, cedar and maple trees. While the cottage sits apart from the main house, guests have only to walk a few steps to the kitchen and laundry facilities.

I am available to answer questions about the area and will make guests breakfast for one morning during their stay if they desire. Guests are welcome to wander the grounds on their own, and I am happy to orient them to the property - beautiful walks begin at the end of the driveway.

Ostale napomene

This area is rich in natural beauty and the cottage is literally a 10 minute drive to National Park and Forest trails, as well as kayaking and canoeing. The town of Quilcene, while small, offers excellent food and dining. The quaint and historic town of Port Townsend is a half hour drive away offering excellent food, shopping, breweries and vineyards.

Brian is a great host! Very informative about the area and willing to help! Very clean accommodation. Tiny cabin but beautiful and well appointed.

Can't say enough good things about this place and Brian's hospitality. It was quite the retreat - so much so that we intentionally reorganized our schedule to allow for a half day just to come back to the rental and relax on the porch and explore around the grounds. Brian's homemade breakfast was better than any restaurant breakfast we had on our trip, too. Hope to be back sometime.

Brian's cabin is a great little getaway from the city - tiny, cozy, quiet, and close to many fun activities on the peninsula. It's close to some great hiking trails (Notch Pass, Lena Lake, Quilcene River), and less than an hour away from the Northern Coast parks (Dungeness, Fort Worden). The cabin had a mini-fridge with a little freezer box, a coffee maker, an electric tea kettle, a toaster, and dishes/cutlery - all the things you need for breakfast and pack lunches. Just don't bring anything too messy - the only sink for cleaning up is in the bathroom. Try going to a local restaurant for dinner, but leave all food snobbery behind - Quilcene and the surrounding area is a very rural place without much of a dining scene (think pizza, burgs, and fried food). Do stop by the Gearhead Deli for sandwiches, and the Oak Table in Sequim for a solid breakfast.

So glad you had a great time and you were wonderful guests. Guests are invited to do what some of my guests have done in the past for cooking and clean-up - using my kitchen which is just steps from the cottage with a private entry. I have also offered to remove dirty dishes from the cottage during any guest's stay. Guests are also most welcome to use my laundry facilities in the same location. Alaina is absolutely correct in saying the variety of eating establishments in Quilcene is limited to three restaurants - two are as she described with quality, simple choices - however, there is a third choice in the Timber House, offering very diverse and fine meals. Port Townsend is about 35 minutes away and offers an extraordinary variety of restaurants and entertainment.

Brian was an amazing host! My boyfriend and I wanted to get away for a few days and do some hiking. Brian's cottage was the perfect escape. Brian's hospitality was above and beyond what we expected. When we arrived, we were greeted with a bottle of wine, chocolate, and a typed up note with all the information and suggestions we could ask for. Brian was a wonderful host and had thought of everything for our wonderful stay. The cottage was amazing! The shower is out of this world and the bed was one of the most comfortable we ever slept in. We also thoroughly enjoyed the balcony and had a nice 2+ hour coffee there every morning :) We highly recommend staying at Wabi-Sabi. We hope that we can enjoy it again in the future!

I have retired from park ranger, Navy captain, corporate, non-profit and political life. I am a lover of sailing, nature and music. I have moved to the Pacific Northwest to be close to all of these things - and I am. The quiet beauty here is unsurpassed. I am grateful to be here.
