This historic urban homestead is within close proximity to San Antonio hot spots like the Riverwalk, downtown convention facilities, Tower of Americas, Pearl Brewery District and Farmer's Market and lots of great local fare. You’ll love our place because of its unique character with comfy beds, crisp sheets and fluffy towels. Prepare food in a fully-functional kitchen or enjoy reading in the garden. Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families (with kids).
In this urban home, you will have the opportunity to live like a downtown local. Most near-by amenities are easily accessed by foot, bike or by bus. Lillie Mae has been renovated but still has the quirks of a 120 year old. The floors creek, the windows rattle a little when its windy, there are always on-going renovations taking place. In addition to the historic restoration, 11 ft. ceilings, tall windows that allow natural light, beadboard, and handcrafted molding, we've added plenty of modern amenities to the home to make it comfortable for guests like central heat and air, outdoor decks with downtown views and modern appliances.
You will have access to all parts of this home and yard. You will find cute little spots to sit and read, be able to make a pot of locally roasted coffee but above all you will find the beds comfortable and shower nice and hot.

Either my husband or I will greet you when you check in. We'll be sure to give you a tour and make sure you have what you need to be comfortable. I am a Certified Tourism Ambassador (CTA) for San Antonio so I can help give you some fun ideas for things to do and see during your visit.
Currently, I offer on-street parking but you can pull comfortably up to the curb close to the entrance gate. If you have reservations about on street parking, please let me know as there may be an option to park next door in my neighbors driveway. There home is newly and beautifully renovated and there is a path from their yard to our house. They have been very accommodating to other guests as long as the house isn't already being occupied
Lillie Mae is a older home in a residential setting. You will have great accommodations like comfy beds, clean fluffy towels and central heat and air but I ask that she be treated kindly and respectfully like you might treat the home of someone you care about.
A few other things that I ask of you that will help my family and I with maintenance is: 1) Pull the shower curtain across the window to keep the sill from getting wet while you shower (and to keep from giving an unintended peep show!) 2) If I know that there is a hard freeze expected during your stay, I will ask you to allow the sink and tub in the bathroom to drip to keep pipes from freezing. This keeps the likelihood of major complications to plumbing to a minimum. 3) Enjoy the garden but please tread lightly- I often have wildflower seedlings coming up for a nice spring show and feel free to pick ripe fruit only but take only what you want to sample. Leave enough for others.
We are a local family with a passion for the fun and historically rich downtown of San Antonio, Texas. My middle school science teacher husband and I moved here in 2003 from Austin, Texas to find a home to call our own. Little did we know we'd embark upon a big journey to polish a gem of downtown architecture. When we aren't working on the Airbnb you'll call home for a night, I help people create community gardens, care for all our critters and burgeoning urban farm, and volunteer at the best little downtown school in all of San Antonio. I also get the pleasure of raising a beautiful little girl who, patiently, spent her whole life watching Lillie Mae come back to life. We do lots of cycling, walking and bird watching along the San Antonio River and spend time with the amazing friends we've made here in San Antonio.
