Where to start? When I have generally received good reviews and then an exceptionally poor one. I have looked at the inconsistencies of the situation, plus elements LEFT OUT by the person in question. As ALWAYS I gave the lady a generally good review (stars wise) but then retold the unpleasant scenario. I am someone who try's, always to be fair, She HAS NOT! Plus left out important positives and under played my assistance from 7pm on the night of arrival. I make the following points!
(Hidden by Airbnb) mapping is ACCURATE! As is my preference (AA Route planning) It is for "travelling time". What was not stated is that she stopped off on the way for some time (hours I believe)!
The car was borrowed from her friend. Prior knowledge of Insurance and repair/recovery on the side of the road, had not been thought of or action ed! So when the tyre blew, she had no other help than me! So she called and I stayed by the phone as I understood she was both tired and also not safe on the side of the road. The only SAVING GRACE was the Police had stopped to assist! 2 hours for someone to arrive to change it for the space saver! 15 mins job! mm Of course I did not suggest another hotel being a possibility. Why? Where would she have gone? Would that have been fair or reasonable?
She called saying I cannot find you! She was the other end of the village! So there I was walking half the length of the road in the centre of the village to locate her at after 11.30 at night! So after a number of stops in her car she parked up the road! Then it was her decision to re-park outside on the yellow lines so she could off load her considerable amount of luggage! Blow up mattress etc etc. I helped her in with it all. The same as when she left I carried a lot out. By this time I was pretty fed up but stayed calm and reasonable. I helped her in and up the stairs. She was going to boil soup after midnight! But decided when I had got cooking items out, she was too tired! I offered a BANANA as a stop gap she accepted! NOTHING MENTIONED! mm.
The shower is easy! Light on = Shower! Shower off (light off) the boiler for heating and hot water on! Simple. I offered her the first shower (can only run one of two at a time) She said fine have yours before and take dogs out! When I returned she said she could not operate. After the night before and having explained verbally twice and clearly stated on the sheet I was EXASPERATED! Yes I did read out the instructions having raised my voice! I may have sworn, but not at her! At no time did she offer that maybe she misunderstood the instructions! Because it was MY FAULT because I had not adequately explained. MAYBE YOU NOW SEE THE PROBLEM..... (Hidden by Airbnb) was at fault, then I was.....NOT HER! If anyone was irrational (as she states) it was her!
REFUND........Why should I?
We continue....HER TYRE replacement was ORGANISED BY ME while out walking the dogs! WHERE WAS this assistance mentioned.
TO (Website hidden by Airbnb) MUSTY / ANCIENT carpets......Sinus problems??????
Firstly I have two Jack Russells, the weather has been consistently wet. Maybe not the sweetest of smelling 130 year old cottage....but does not stink! The room was an UPGRADE to a double because she had so much stuff! APPRECIATED ? CONVENIENTLY FORGOTTEN! The large rug was about 10 years old, the carpet around the edges is older!
It has taken me hours to write and read all that she stated. I could have easily just ignored her rude and unfair comments for someone who went more than the extra mile. But when someone is totally unfair, they need to be put right!
We are all different and we expect different levels from all of our purchases. Assumptions should be qualified by questions, which I ask for every time I write to a guest! In her case again she expected more than was reasonable to expect. A level of assistance that was totally unreasonable to expect, then writes her totally negative review without balancing the books which I always try to do! SO YES SHE DID SPIT HER DUMMY OUT.....and continues to do so! FINI....
