Our beautiful guest room is good for two adults, or maybe a couple with one young child. We have a joyful 5-year-old & a cat. There is a frig, microwave, & Keurig in the room. We are happy to share our kitchen and dining room when pre-arranged. Our home is 1/2 mile from the charming downtown, 1/4 mile from 2 restaurants & beach park, & close to hiking.
The guest room and full, private bathroom is separated from the rest of the first floor by a pocket door, so visually it feels private when you are in the guest space. The space is located directly adjacent to our living room and dining room, however, so guests do hear some of the friendly hustle and bustle of our family life.
The bed looks like a sofa bed, but it is actually a super-comfortable brand new queen-sized mattress on a bunkie board, on a sofa bed frame. All of our guests so far have loved it!
Jen gets migraines when exposed to some scents, so please do not use heavily scented lotions or perfumes, scented candles, or air fresheners in our home. Please do not smoke anywhere on the property, even outside. We use natural, fragrance-free cleaning products.
There is a gravel pull-out next to the house to load and unload luggage, but the designated parking spot is a 3 minute walk away from the house.
Guests are welcome to eat at our dining room table or join us for morning coffee at the kitchen counter. If you would like to use our kitchen for cooking, please contact us directly before booking to make a plan for sharing the space.

We have pretty busy lives and may not be around much for in-person questions, but one of us is almost always available by cell-phone!
If you are interested in learning more about the Cantine's Island co-housing community where we live, check out our website (URL HIDDEN) and let us know if you would like us to set up a tour for you, and maybe a community meal.

I am the proud mom of an amazing five-year-old daughter, and I work as an administrator at Bard College. My husband, Michael, and I recently designed and built a super-energy efficient house (a lot of it with our own two hands!) in a wonderful co-housing community called Cantine's Island where we co-own 7 acres of beautiful wooded waterfront property with 17 other families. Before I got a graduate degree as a social worker, I worked as a wilderness educator and Outward Bound instructor in Colorado and New Mexico for 7 years. As a family, we are happiest in simple, natural environments that are conducive to relaxing and building relationships, with lots of opportunities for laughter and play! We love to bike, swim, dance, and hike.
