WELCOME TO JIMRAMOV The Cider House Rules
In case of any issues or questions, please call + (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) mona (speaks English).
If you can’t reach Simona, please call + (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) Zuzana (speaks a tiny bit English only). She’ll probably have one of her kids to call you back and help.
Surprisingly enough, we’ve got running water. This is how to get to it:
The main stopper is placed in the ground right underneath the boiler (in the bathroom) – blue handle to be turned parallel with the pipes. To turn the boiler on, there’s a switch on the right side of it – on is up. Boiler has a temperature scale – the wheel – ideal setting is at the E level.
With many devices running at the same time (mainly the hotplates & kettle & heating in the bathroom) the main breaker goes down – better to run one at a time. If there’s a click and the electricity suddenly takes vacation, no need to panic – there is the breaker box on the wall in the hallway – just click the big one back on. And before you do so, disconnect one of the devices that might have caused the break.
Please, don’t leave any opened food or snacks in the rooms, store them in the fridge or at least keep them closed. There are no mice in the house yet but we’re not big fans of hunting them down later.
Please, don’t throw balls and don’t lean bikes on the big white wall in the garden – it’s the neighbour’s favourite wall. And we like that neighbour. Therefore we like the wall.
Please, consider the neighbours – they are really nice and kind. No need to be super quiet – same as if you were home and didn’t want the neighbours to go all crazy at 4am when you were looking forward to sleep in.
TUESDAY night the big garbage can needs to go outside the fence – the garbage guys come on Wednesday mornings and you don’t want them to wake you up when you want to sleep in. Then please, put it back in.
STORES & SERVICES IN TOWN
Going right from the main gate - turn left on the crossroads and then left again. That’s where all the fun is. And downtown, too.
The store called JEDNOTA (or COOP) is a grocery store. POSTA is the post, just next to it.
The main street is lined up with a tobacco shop/news stand (TRAFIKA), a bistro (oh these ladies have a very nice beer), a veggies store, a butcher’s (all the way at the other side of the “square”) and a drug store.
There are couple of Vietnamese stores – they just have it all and stay open pretty late.
Going left from the main gate – take the stairs down to get to doctor’s (dentist, kids doc, grown-up’s doc, gynaecologist). The closest hospital: Nove Mesto na Morave (about 16km West).
BEFORE YOU LEAVE
In the rooms you used: please clean the floor (a sweep is good), lift all the mattresses from the beds and leave the blankets so that they get to breathe that nice highland breeze. Leave the room-doors open.
Close all windows.
Do not leave any food here - throw it away or eat it. DO NOT turn off the fridge. (Didn’t mean to shout). Take out the garbage and put it in the garbage can outside.
Wash the dishes you used and please dry them.
Clean the bathroom floor and please, re-stock the amount of toilet paper you used up for the next visitors.
All the furniture you took outside please put back in (hallway, kitchen, shed).
Turn off the boiler – switch on the right goes down, the wheel should be set to 0 [zero].
THANK YOU FOR VISITING
PLACES TO SEE
Going left from the main gate, take the stairs down, keep going straight and you should reach the river Svratka). Going against the flow (left) you’d round Jimramov – you’d end up at the East end (bridge to Policka).
There’s a chateau (big yellow-ish building close to the church) – has a nice park Bludnik at the meeting point of two rivers: Svratka & Frysavka.
Policka (oh right, that’s where the delicious beer comes from!) – 11km East. Famous composer Bohuslav Martinu was born in Policka. He lived in a church tower (his father was the bell-ringer). Policka has a beautiful main square, whole centre surrounded by medieval fortification, town hall, museum…
Pusta Rybna – beautiful hike with reaching the Lucky hill (Lucky vrch).
Dankovice – a very nice resto Selsky dvur with a breath-taking view of the hills.
A nice hike is up the Buchtuv kopec (Buchtuv hill) and all the way to Snezne.
Snezne has a very interesting cemetery – with two entrances (one for Catholics, one for Protestants). And there’s this heavenly confectioner’s, a kid’s paradise. And a gallery.
Prosicka is a high rock with a cross on a hill – just above Kadov (there is a nice resto Klokoci). The other side of the hill has ponds Sykovec, Tri Studne and Medlov.
Nove Mesto na Morave (16km West) – museum.
Pernstejn castle – about 20km South-west.
Zdar nad Sazavou is rather a big town already. The dominant beauty here is a pilgrimage church of St. John of Nepomuk at Zelena Hora designed by the famous architect Jan Blažej
