My recommendation for restaurants: The old city has many restaurants, and I recommend a few, so check out the information on the web and choose:
-Uje oil bar (Dominisova ul. 3, 21000, Split)
- Mazzgoon food (Bajamontijeva ul. 1, 21000, Split)
- Diocletian's Wine House ( Julija Nepota 4, 21000, Split)
-Villa spiza, small restorant with traditional Dalmation food (Kružićeva 3, 21000 Split)
-Chops grill steak & seafood ,excellent steak!!!!(Kamila Tončića 4, Split)
-Galerija food (Dominisova 9, Split)
-Pizzeria Portas (http://www.pizzeriaportas.hr/)
-Restaurant Šug - Tolstojeva 1 (http://www.sug.hr/)
My apartment is very close to all restaurants !
For “what to see/do”in Split:
-First you can take one of walking tours… near my apartment at Golden gate is meeting place for tours of Split.
Link for one that I recommend: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g295370-d4106827-Reviews-Split_Walking_Tour-Split_Split_Dalmatia_County_Dalmatia.html (Split walking tour Blue Umbrella is TripAdvisors No.1),
Something about information of this walking tour..."Join us for the best spent 90 minutes in Split with our renowned expert guides Our extraordinary tours (including Culinary tour,Jewish tour, Game of Thrones and the Grand Tour)inside an ancient Roman palace provide so much more than a walk! You get to chat with the Pretorian guard, unravel antique secrets, experience priceless sights, sounds and scents of Dalmatia as you immerse yourselves into 1700 years of history, culture and gourmet cuisine. It doesn't get any better than this! Departure point: Golden gate - north gate Every day: Look for a blue umbrella."

-Cathedral...Bell Tower of St. Domnius (Peristil). From the top of the cathedral, you have a 360 degree view of Split, the old town, the harbour and the ocean.

-Mestrovic Gallery: Croatians haven’t had the easiest of histories, but they’ve been resilient through the rough times and are now fiercely proud of their country and their countrymen. Beloved sculptor Ivan Mestrovic (also beloved in the U.S., as he taught at Notre Dame and became as known for his generosity as for his talent) is a prime example. This museum of his work is worth a visit even for non-sculpture aficionados, as his former home is a lovely mansion on beautiful grounds with a striking sea view.

-If you like it take a Hike! On Marjan...
Marjan is a hill on a peninsula that stands 178 meters above sea level.
Marjan boasts stunning panoramic lookout points, 13th century churches, one of the oldest Jewish cemeteries in the region, park benches to relax on, old stone houses, and beaches that are to die for. You’ll come across fitness enthusiasts, joggers, roller skaters, bicyclists, tennis players, watersports, and your everyday tourist with a packed lunch and a bottle of water fully embracing the atmosphere surrounding them. Here are two main walking paths to Marjan. One path begins on the northern side of Split, and ends with one of Split’s most popular beaches, Bene. This path offers bike rentals and wraps around the hill with meandered surfaced paths. The other (southern) path leads you directly to the top of Marjan. This path begins in Vidilica and reveals a hefty 314 steps to the top of Telegrin (but don’t be too alarmed, in true Dalmatian fashion there is a cafe bar for you to rest in). :)
….for walking...in the evening from apartment, across Peristil, Old riva to west...The Western Riva... enjoy the Western riva to walk to one of the favorite Split park Sustipan... near Acy marine (nice wiew).
Split is the kind of city where you don’t need a plan. :)
Simply wandering the streets of the old town and having a meal are pleasures that don’t need to be premeditated.
It’s also safe enough! :)
- If you love warherfalls 1,5 hour drive from Split there is Krka National Park in Dalmatia or if you have a time a little more far away there are Plitvice Lakes(magnificent place)!
Krka is in the Mediterranean region, while Plitvice is in the temperate region.
-Blue cave and Hvar Tour from Split with speedboat trip
-Blue lagoon is nice trip for swiming and relaxation , recomended
-Six island tour - 120 euro per person
Group tour
-Two island tour(Hvar)
Private tour(only You and skipper) with new speed boat - 350 euro all included

-Blue lagoon tour
Private tour(only You and skipper) with new speed boat
300 euro

This is prices are usual for all touristic agencies, and it is with boats like this.
The cheapest way is that you take normal catamaran or ferry to Island( Hvar or Brac).
You can go by catamaran (without agency) to Bol (island Brač /nice beach Zlatni rat)) or to place Hvar (island Hvar)
P.S....don't forget..
Diocletian’s Roman Guard
The guard shift takes place each day at 12.00 am ( Peristil... ) during which the Emperor Diocletian appears with 6 soldiers, and takes the opportunity to greet the mass and holds the appropriate speech, inviting the guests to his Palace.

Split, Splitsko-dalmatinska županija, Hrvatska

The neighbourhood is lively with lots of amenities. It's connected to the city center and there are various cultural manifestations being held in the park across the street. It's very easy and simple to get around.
In 293 AD Roman Emperor Diocletian ordered the construction – on the ruins of the Greek city of Aspalathos and near Salona, an ancient urban centre – of a magnificent palace in which he would spend his final years. The town of Split as we know it today expanded from Diocletian’s Palace, the world’s best preserved palace from late antiquity. Split is now the capital of Dalmatia, captivating visitors with its Mediterranean charm and majestic architecture. Modern Split is most closely identified with popular music and sports, earning Diocletian’s city the sobriquets of “the most musical Croatian city” and “the sports-maddest city in the world”.
