My farm is close to the arts and culture but also snugged into a secluded valley. We're just 20 minutes from wineries, distilleries and historic sites. We have local eateries, festivals, dinners, antiques and plenty of auctions nearby.
The cottage is the original homestead with pastoral views & is stocked with local breakfast foods. Enjoy acres to roam about and true quiet.
It's good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, medium size groups, and furry friends (pets).
- no scented oils or candles allowed
- all dogs must be crated while you are away and walked on leashes except in designated field
- lots of fields and roads to walk
- no firearms are allowed
- quiet time is midnight/ all nights
I currently live on our family farm outside Morrison, Mo in one of the partially restored barns. (It isnt nearly as cool as you think!)
After 30 years in Chgo working as a landscape designer and color consultant I returned home 10 yrs ago to care for our mom. After she passed I stayed on to raise free range poultry and waterfowl and turn the original homestead into a B&B.
In 2016 the cottage won the Houzz International Interior Design Award. Which for being in a tiny farming town (pop 123) in Mid Missouri was quite a surprise.
The inspiration for the colors and design were Carl Larsen paintings, using traditional Swedish colors and making sure the interior felt super comfy and authentic; with cotton linens, antique quilts, real plants and fresh flowers from the gardens.
*I wanted it to feel like you were going to your family's cottage. Where you have the whole house to yourself. Like I was always been able to have.
Just full of old board games on the shelves, books everywhere, handmade quilts and artworks, worn comfortable furniture, super clean and cozy beds and also where your artist aunt lives in the barn and raises geese not TOO far away in case you need anything.
There are lots of nooks and cozy spots to read in. And you can bring your dogs too! (just talk to me beforehand so you know the farm rules)
There is a complimentary bottle of local wine on the kitchen table when you arrive. And you make your own breakfast on your own schedule, with foods in the kitchen; local bakery, our eggs, local bacon, and everything else you need for a couple mornings. We have a lake stocked with bluegill and bass and a firepit with grill where you can cook out. (with electricity and running water too)
There are plenty of paths and roads to walk around on and church dinners and local festivals, antique stores and eateries to enjoy regional tastes without the tourism-trap nonsense.
* It is a great place for Introverts & all those who just need some peace and quiet.
