Believe it or not, this house was originally a chicken coop! It was built in 1925 but was converted into a gorgeous, cozy guest house. We live in the larger house built on the front of the same lot. The house is ideal for ease and comfort, with a large yard and plenty of privacy. It's also less than a block from the Silver Line bus route that whisks you to downtown GR. You’ll love its comfort and convenience. We cater to couples, solo adventurers, business travelers and families (with kids).
Our guest house is unique in that it is located within the city but situated way back from the main road on a deep lot behind the main house in which we live. The house was originally a chicken coop when built with the larger house 1925. It was converted to a home after World War II when housing was in short supply to returning servicemen.
The original owner's daughter lived in it shortly after she married then the couple moved into the larger house after her father passed away. The mother-in-law then lived in the little house until she passed away. It has been offered as a guest house ever since.
There is ample off street parking. Guests have 24/7 access to the house via their own key provided by the host upon check-in.

The hosts live in the larger house located on the front of the lot so they are close by if guests need anything.
The house utilizes solar power through an innovative solar panel shutter system design and built by me. On sunny days, the panels charge a bank of batteries housed in the nearby garage where they then allow critical systems to run within the house if the power should ever go out.
We expect all of our guests to be mature and respect our rules for visiting. Our home and yard are your home and yard. We are close by if you should need anything.
A requirement of all of our guests is that they must be a non-smoker, no exceptions. We pride ourselves on keeping a clean, smoke-free lodging and even if we state "no smoking" in our listing, we have found that those that do smoke carry the smell with them wherever they go and that smell lingers.
I teach physics, used to work for NASA, and enjoy reading and writing about the history of science and technology. My wife and I have both used Airbnb before as guests and have had great experiences. We started hosting this past May and have enjoyed all of our guests.
