Villa Habibi is unique with its panoramic views over the open Atlantic ocean and the Thuya forests bordering the plot. It's in a timeless, peaceful haven, just a short distance from the town of Essaouira, one of the most popular seaside resorts and fishing ports in Morocco. Renowned for its arts and crafts and laid back atmosphere, many cafes and restaurants in a variety of street, rooftop and beachfront locations, a number of which have licensed to serve alcohol.
We have two smaller houses each with two double bedrooms, open plan kitchen/dining/living room area, bathroom with walk in shower, basin and w.c. One has an outdoor store, the other an internal utility room. One is in a more traditional Moroccan style with brightly coloured tadelakt walls and hand made 'bejmat' tiles; the other is more modern in finish with neutral walls and contemporary tiles on the floors. Both have open fires and well-equipped newly fitted kitchens with washing machines, large fridge freezers, full-sized gas ovens with overhead extractors, and surrounding terraces with wrought iron railings to enable privacy from the dogs if required.
The large villa has 5 ground floor bedrooms, two with en-suite shower/w.c. and twin beds, a third has a double bed and en-suite bathroom with full bath and overhead shower, w.c. and basin. There are two other bedrooms which have direct access to two shower rooms and two separate w.c.s. One is a large triple with a double bed and sofa bed, plus washbasin in the room, the other is the smallest room with a small double bed.
When the owners are not in residence there is also the option to rent a 6th bedroom, the upstairs Master suite with stunning views and an en-suite bathroom with separate bath, walk in shower, bidet, w.c. and double basins. There's also another full bathroom, with overhead shower adjacent, and use of one of the dressing rooms clothes storage.
All bedrooms in the main house can arrange access to the upstairs roof terrace, as well as the use of the newly fitted kitchen with all modern appliances, including an American-style fridge-freezer with ice-making facility, double oven (gas and electric options), large gas hob, dishwasher, and utility room with washing machine and additional sink. Also to the dining room seating 8, and covered outside dining terrace seating a further 12. There's access to a large salon-lounge which has ample seating for 9+ including two reclining armchairs.
All guests, regardless of which property they rent, have access to the large outdoor heated saltwater swimming pool and state-of-the-art Jacuzzi spa, and surrounding terrace with sunloungers, and a large poolside room with an open fire.
The accommodation is situated in a secure walled plot of just under 3 acres and landscaping has just started with the intention of developing an orchard and vegetable garden. There's plenty of free parking on site and eventually there will be covered parking available.

The owners won't be on site from mid-September to June 2017 due to other commitments, but during their absence there is a residential Guardian, a daily cleaner, who speaks good French, and a Maintenance Manager is on call for any problems, who is fluent in French, English and Moroccan Arabic (Diriga). The owners can be contacted by email, (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) and SMS in the event of any problems.
There might not be an internet connection for the 9 months from September 2016 - June 2017 due to difficulties with the supplies in this part of Morocco, where supply can't keep up with demand and the satellite connection is very unreliable and slow.
Because there is no mains water supply to this area, water has to be obtained from a well which is not currently very productive, which means that water has to be brought in every week by truck to top up the tanks and the pool. So it's important for guest to respect the need to conserve water. Electricity is supplied by a combination of solar and mains and there's a back-up generator to cover any periods where the mains may not be reliable. Rubbish is disposed of in three categories, two are dealt with on site and the other has to be deposited in designated refuse collection areas in the nearby towns that are serviced by a collection service.
Basic daily cleaning is provided and for an additional fee, the housekeeper will provide laundry and ironing services. She can also provide support with cooking for an additional fee, for guests who supply the required ingredients, and by prior arrangement.
- There are two friendly dogs on the land
- Transport is required as the property is down an unmade road from the main Safi coastal road. It's about 15 - 20 minutes drive to the town of Essaouira. A bit further takes you to the surfing hotspot Siddi Kaouki.
- Extra guests by prior request and although parties can be held, guests are expected to respect the fact that we sometimes have neighbours so not too much noise outside late at night!
- It's possible to book the whole property, apart from dates already booked, for a larger group or a small retreat, that's the main villa and the two small villas, both of which provide self-catering units sleeping up to 6, accommodating a total of around 22+ people, with space for people to sleep also in the poolside building on the banquettes, and on the roof terraces. We are intending to appoint residential staff, after which, just of the smaller houses will be available.
Guests are required to follow the rules for disposal of waste so as to respect the environment and also to conserve water, especially in the summer months.
We are a British couple with residency in Morocco and the UAE, where we have a successful business running courses in applied positive psychology and well-being, leading to international qualifications. We train Clinical Hypnotherapists, Psychotherapists, Counsellors, Coaches, and run a Licensed Centre for the Society of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), as well as Dr Paul Ekman International courses in EQ. We love the arts, performing, creative, music, etc. and have a wide range of eclectic interests. We're in the process of gradually moving over full-time to our place in Morocco. The two small houses are available for rentals, preferably a minimum of a week, during the next year or so, and the main house is available too until next June, and rooms in it will also be available for some of the time whilst we're living there. After next summer (2017) we'll have a full time couple living on site instead of the current resident guardian, to look after us and our guests and we'll only let out the 'Gatehouse' villa, and some of the downstairs bedrooms in the main house unless we're away, when the large house will also be available.
