At night, you'll fall asleep to the sounds of the seasonal fog-horn, the forest, the wind, and the rain. Watch the stars overhead from bed, or spot whales from the deck. Hummingbirds flutter about, guarding their feeder, and wild bunnies dash around below. Seagulls, Bald Eagles, and other birds glide overhead, and at night you can enjoy stargazing. Ten minutes walk will get you to a private beach entrance.

This tridecagonal home is close to private beach entrances, near the end of a dead-end street, nestled into a quiet, coastal forest. Ten minutes drive will get you to fine dining, art galleries, the Newport Aquarium, and everything else great about Newport.

Achilles ("the Brave") is extremely shy, and the dog is a little crazy about other dogs, so no pets should come here, nor anyone looking for a loud party-type scene. This is a good place, however, for couples or solo travelers.

Your bedroom has a private bathroom, but to get to it, you will have to go outside the room. Your bathroom will be just a few steps away. Both of these rooms have skylights. On a clear night, you can watch the stars from bed, or the deck, or even the toilet.

This is a lived-in house. There could be some dirty dishes in the sink, or a jacket on the back of a chair. Since it's heated by two wood stoves, it often smells like wood smoke in the winter, as it's difficult or impossible to never let any smoke escape while I'm feeding the fires. Some people like this smell - I grew up with it, so I like it. If you don't want to interact with a dog or anyone, please don't stay here. That said, this house is also professionally cleaned on a regular basis. If you spot something dirty, please tell me about it so I can make sure it's dealt with. If you like dogs but are slightly allergic, I can use the baby-gate to keep Phoenix downstairs after introductions.

The upstairs is shared, except for the bathroom and bedroom, which are yours for your stay. The downstairs is off-limits. The deck is also shared.

This is a quiet little neighborhood. Nothing happens here: it's extremely safe. There is no lock on any of the bedroom doors. That's a thing I've seen in Portland that just isn't necessary here. There are kites that you can use!

This neighborhood is unique because it has two private beach accesses (one that you can drive to, one on-foot only), and it's nested between developments in the same situation - so everyone on the beach nearby has either rented a home, lives in the area, or has trekked for miles. In other words, it's quiet. Go hunt for agates at low tide, or enjoy watching the birds, or have a fire and watch the stars appear - whatever you want. No one will bother you here.
