An ideal place to unplug and unwind - stargaze or sunbathe in the hot tub, reconnect with nature and your creative spirit. Read a book, tour the farm, take a nap or a walk, cook a meal (w/ fresh eggs from our hens in our full kitchen), and plan your mountain adventures in the Roaring Fork Valley! Our off the beaten path, small peaceful mountain farm will warm your heart and help you connect with nature.
Our garden level studio apartment is bright, clean, quiet, and spacious. The studio has a new queen size bed, a sleeping/sitting nook, a full kitchen (minus microwave), a bathroom with shower & tub, and it's own private entrance and private covered porch to watch the local wildlife. It is quite comfortable for two people, but can sleep three if your third guest doesn't mind being extra cozy in the nook! We welcome you to bring one well-behaved pet, an additional pet will require an additional $20 cleaning fee. We live 15 minutes from the center of Carbondale, so our home is an ideal resting place for guests who want to explore the beauty of Carbondale, Basalt, Glenwood and Aspen, but who also enjoy the solitude of nature and beautiful landscape of the Roaring Fork Valley.
The studio is part of our house - we live upstairs. The space is downstairs and completely separate from our living space. Our 3 acre mini-farm is an active environment that includes 15 chickens, and an organic garden that will (hopefully) feed us through the summer months - so you may hear or bump into us in the front yard tending the garden, feeding the animals, or coming home from work during the weekdays! We love guests who are interested in this lifestyle, sustainability practices, and self-reliance - we are always open to show you the farm, introduce you to our hens, or answer any questions!
Guests have access to our hot tub by following the dirt path to the side of the studio around to the back of the house. Hot tub hours are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. - please be courteous of these hours.
Stargazing while soaking in the hot tub is one of our favorite pastimes. One benefit of being a bit out of town is the almost complete lack of light pollution. On clear, moonless nights, the sheer number and clarity of stars visible in the sky can take your breath away. We love counting satellites, shooting stars, and the constellations :) The hot tub is also a lovely place to be at sunrise, sunset, or even midday. It is less than 3 years old and we keep it sparkling clean. Being a new model of Hot Springs Spa it requires very few chemicals. We love it and enjoy sharing it.
The covered front porch is a wonderful place to curl up in the papasan chair at all times of year and all times of day. Don't be surprised to see a couple of deer, a group of wild turkeys, or some hummingbirds when you step out of the front door.
For your adventure planning pleasure, we keep a basket full of information about the local restaurants, shops, and all kinds of activities.
We stock the studio kitchen with fresh eggs from our hens, butter, coffee and tea, organic half and half, sugar, oil and vinegar, salt and pepper, and a selection of spices.
In the bathroom you'll find plenty of fresh, clean towels, shampoo and conditioner, soap, and various other toiletries and first aid items.
Wifi is available.
Hot tub is available to guests from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. ** Access the hot tub by the dirt side path by the studio. **
There is no cell service at the house, however if you have iPhone you can turn on wifi calling and use your phone as normal.

We love having guests and meeting new people. Our hosting and travel style is low-key and relaxed. We enjoy socializing, but also respect the privacy of our guests. We are happy to answer questions about our favorite restaurants, hikes, and other activities in the area.
A couple of things to clarify:
1) Our home is 10 minutes from the center of Carbondale and considered off the beaten path. There is no cell service at our home, but the WIFI is strong and abundant! We love the city, but find it more peaceful to be a slight distance away from it, fully immersed in the beauty of nature. If you are looking to be right in town, this may not be the Air BNB for you :)
2.) We allow one well-behaved pet to travel with you, an additional pet requires a $20 additional cleaning fee. Two pets maximum, please.
3) Our neighborhood is very quiet in terms of human/vehicle noise. Our chickens make clicking sounds when they are laying, but the coop in on the other side of the property, so you will not hear them much. Most of our guests love our chickens, but If these kinds of noises will bother you, it might be best to choose another location.
If you have any questions, please ask us. We want our guests to know what to expect from the space and the area and we are glad to help in any way that we can.
Please familiarize yourself with these rules before your stay, it helps us all have an enjoyable time on our beautiful property:
- No smoking anywhere on the property, please.
- Hot tub hours are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. - please respect these hours, as our bedroom is adjacent to the hot tub. Please rinse bathing suits thoroughly and shower before entering the hot tub!
- During winter and snowy times you will need an all wheel drive or 4 wheel drive vehicle! Our home is located at 7,000 ft, and the snow can get very deep. Our driveway is plowed, but steep.
- Please do not leave your pet alone inside the studio and keep him/her on a leash at all times! It is important that their accompanying adults be very attentive to them as the house is situated on a steep hillside where there is cacti, rocks, and wildlife. This is a farm, and we need to keep all its residents safe and happy!
- Please do not go inside the chicken coop without us accompanying you.
- Our water comes from a well so we ask our guests to be mindful of water use. We are also on a private septic system so please - only toilet paper (septic safe) down the drains.
Thank you for taking the time to read these, we hope you enjoy your stay on our beautiful farm!
We are a newlywed couple with a passion for nature and travel! We have a unique story of how we came to Air BNB our peaceful mountain retreat.
We rented the studio for a weekend in June 2015 and fell in love with the house and the charming town of Carbondale! After finding a beautiful sustainable ranch nearby to get married on, Michael was offered a job in town, and we packed up our lives in Denver and moved right after our wedding – Carbondale is just too gorgeous to pass up. We became friends with the original owners of the Air BNB house and, soon after moving, bought it from them! The original owners, Dawn & Adam, were AirBNB superstars, and made our stay absolutely perfect. They always told us they were going to sell the house to go live on a sailboat and travel the world – so when their dream became a reality, we bought their house. Because Dawn & Adam created such a peaceful, beautiful Air BNB experience for so many people, we knew we had to pay it forward and continue hosting guests in the lovely studio apartment.
We are an eclectic couple who spent most of our pre-marriage days living abroad in New Zealand and South East Asia! Our mutual love of travel made us quit our day jobs in America and buy one way tickets to the southern-most part of the world soon after we met. We lived in New Zealand for 1 year – the first 3 months were spent living in an old Subaru, working on organic farms, and filming with the Travel Channel. The last 9 months were spent working in the beautiful capitol city of Wellington, on the southern tip of the north island. When our Visas expired, we took “the long way home” through Australia and South East Asia for 6 months. We were smitten with Asia… the sights, the smells, and the people. We completed over 25 scuba dives, lived in tree houses, worked on an elephant sanctuary, watched the sun rise from temples, and spent time learning about organic farming and communal living. But, alas, our 20’s were dwindling, and Michael asked Brittany to go back to America to marry him. We had big dreams to start a farm of our own back in Colorado, the place we knew we loved so much!
Brittany works for Osmia Organics, a natural and organic skin care company in Carbondale as the Director of Sales & Marketing. She skips to work everyday knowing she is helping create products that heal people and the planet. When she isn’t working, she can be found in her garden, road biking, playing with her 2 cats, hiking, and practicing calligraphy. She loves a good glass of wine and talking travel!
Michael works for a startup in Carbondale called FASTG8 – a digital marketing agency for outdoor lifestyle brands. When he isn’t analyzing the numbers for one of his amazing clients, he can be found skinning up a snowy mountain, biking, enjoying a good beer, and eating all the chips and salsa in the house!
We love having guests and meeting new people. Our hosting and travel style is low-key, relaxed, & as environmentally gentle as possible. We share a taste for simple luxuries like the perfect cup of coffee, tasty, local, organic food and comfortable beds.
With world class skiing, rafting, fishing, hiking, biking, yoga studios, spas, entertainment, restaurants, and shopping just minutes away in any direction, we still often stay home just to enjoy the profound quiet, frequent visits from wildlife (including deer, hummingbirds, wild turkeys, nighthawks, & the occasional Aspenite), & stargazing while soaking in the hot tub. One benefit of being a bit out of town is the almost complete lack of light pollution. On clear, moonless nights, the sheer number & clarity of stars visible in the sky can take your breath away.
