Detached minihouse in the property of a 12th century villa on the Chianti hills. Just renovated. Convenient location, easy access, private fenced garden front with patio, back deck to enjoy sunset over Florence, full of light throughout the day. Washing machine. Dogs welcome if well behaved.
This sun-drenched studio is soaked in the Chianti scenery: all windows, and surrounded by green. Full kitchen and comfortable bathroom with open shower, this detached studio space is most suitable for couples or singles as the only bed is a double, but there is also a full size sofa bed if 2 people want to sleep separately . Patio, private garden with sun chairs to enjoy the sun even in the colder seasons. The back deck ideal for aperitivo at sunset overlooking Florence. Fenced garden ideal for dogs (if cat-friendly: there are cats on the property).
A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY:
This "minihouse" used to be the laundry shack, where the maids rubbed sheets and clothes with bars of soap, then rinsed them in large tanks that took up most of this little building.
The tower portion of the main building dates back to 1146. The rest of the building was added on in the 1400s , 1600s and 1800s. Many lives were saved during WWII by my grandfather who risked his own, by offering hiding and shelter to total strangers in this villa. We like to continue this tradition by welcoming people from all over the world. Our children are the 6th generation in this home. The rest of the villa is lived in by family members.
Guests of this minihouse will have their own private fenced garden, a deck, and also access to all shared grounds on the property: the sunny side garden, the shaded garden under the century-old holm oaks, and the olive groves, the BBQ, swing and hammoc.
PRIVATE for minihouse guests, PARKING AREA FOR 1 CAR
Numerous hikes start from our village, and a little forest is accessible without even leaving the property.
Also shaded picnic area and swing.
If you play the piano and wish to practice during your vacation: there is a well tuned Baby Grand Steinway made in the 1899, in the common area, accessible to our guests.
ADDITIONAL OFFERS AT THE VILLA:
Take a fun hands-on COOKING LESSON where you learn how to make pasta from scratch, then stay for dinner in the top of the villa: that includes your creations and a whole meal, including home-made dessert and wine. The bonus: beautiful views, unlimited toppings of wine, and coffee. And you don’t have to do the dishes!. Cost per person: 60€ Credit card accepted. 5€ discount for cash payments.
Local deli, freshly baked bread, cheeses, wine and beer shop, green grocers, great cappuccino and very best butcher of the region; all right across the street, 5 minutes walk. Just be aware of opening and closing hours...(long siesta breaks: 1-5pm)
Although there are no actual restaurants walking distance, you can buy all the food you need to make your own meals, and the local butcher also offers lasagne and grilled chicken to take home or simple meals to eat there.
Very nice family style trattoria only 5 minutes driving from home, with great variety of pizza, primi, great steak, desserts, and even some seafood. Also plenty outdoors for kids to run around safely.
Plenty of marked hikes to enjoy the area.

My children are the 6th generation in this medieval villa, and when our budget doesn't allow us to travel, we like a little bit of the world to come to us. My grandfather - a personal hero of mine - hid and saved many lives (often complete strangers, and foreigners), from the fury of the Fascists and Nazis during WW2, in the many nooks and crannies of this old home; and this has created in his heirs a tradition of opening this home to strangers.
I am more hospitable than impeccable...
I recently wrote a book about happiness.
My husband Marco is a retired professional yachtsman, and now a talented and passionate cook.
One of my favourite quotes is: "if you don't believe in connections, you miss them".
