I advise you not to stay here. The good: It is a really cute apartment and perfectly located. It has a nice view, and basically what you can see on the pictures; well decorated, nice terrace, etc. You will have to interact with Rocío's mom, Celia, which is probably one of the worst things that happened to me on this trip. She is the one that answers complaints at the Airbnb account. Not only was Celia straightforward rude at times, she responded to me reporting broken furniture and non-functioning appliances with “how weird” and had a lame excuse for things that were actually wrong. She would call extremely early in the morning, be aggressive, and generally treat me poorly, nothing like a paying guest (for one and a half months!). Why didn’t you move you ask? I considered it, but a little less than a month in It was more complicated for me to find a new place and move than to make an effort and ignore her to the best of my ability. The general state of things in the apartment was bad: broken furniture, missing basics and appliances not working. The sofa (supposedly the second bed, but can’t be called a bed) was broken. Celia told us a story of how the couple who were their previous tenants would fight and break stuff, then she pretended to be surprised when we found out it was broken to the point where no one could sleep on it. She neither fixed it nor propose a solution in over two weeks when we needed it, we had to come up with one of our own. AC was broken from day one. During some properly hot days, and even considering we had a baby staying with us, she couldn’t be bothered, took a week to fix it and only upon continued pressure from me. Her main argument was that there was a fan and that the weather would change soon, so there was no need. The repairman made a comment on how it was clear it had never received any maintenance. Furniture on the terrace was broken. One of the chairs was unusable and the table outside wasn’t just cracked, but a whole corner of it was missing. It’s very noisy. I recommend earplugs since the elevators make tremendous noise that can be heard loudly in the apartment, particularly bothering at night when you try to sleep. Kitchen is missing basic stuff, there isn’t a single pan (she promptly told me to buy one if I needed it), the blender didn’t work and the toaster was more than rusty. Any attempt to get some of this remedied was met by Celia saying that being a temporary apartment it wasn’t supposed to be used for cooking at all. This is not a complete list, but I can’t stress enough how Celia’s behaviour was by far the worst of...
Let me start by saying, this is a nice apartment. And we would probably stay here again, but only if we paid $70/day instead of $100/day. We thought the apartment was overpriced. And here is why. While the apartment has everything promised, the pictures are a bit deceiving, as they were most likely enhanced. The apartment is not as light or airy as the pictures show. Basic case of setting too high expectations and falling short. It is on the top floor of the building, and tends to get super hot in summer, even with the AC on. The AC is only in the bedroom and there is no fan in the rest of apartment, making it super hot and oven-like. The elevator is noisy and rumbles through the day and night. And the towels, sheets, pillows, etc should be replaced as they are super old. The comforter could use a wash and a quick dusting before we arrived would have been nice. And the reasons to stay would be location. The apartment is in a great location. It is an easy walk to the Palermo parks, close to the mall and has all the amenities promised. Rocio is super nice and accommodated a late check-in (we reached BA at midnight). Her mom came to let us into the apartment at midnight and showed us how to use the keys, etc. We noticed that the wifi was not working and told Rocio. The next day, her mom again came and waited for the servicing company to come and fix the wifi. In spite of all this, the wifi did not work throughout our stay. It turns out, in Argentina, when it gets super hot, there are power cuts and modems don't work and wifi fails. Apparently it happens pretty often. Rocio was very understanding the refunded a small portion of the money back. There a couple of things to be aware of before going.Rocio's mom speaks only Spanish. So it will be good to know basic Spanish. Our 'poquito' Spanish was not enough for a conversation, but we managed fine. On the whole, more realistic pictures, newer sheets, towels, cleaner comforter, better pillows(we slept on the sofa cushions coz the pillows were flat and lumpy) and a quick dusting would definitely help the improve the stay. Adding a hair dryer, shampoo/conditioner would be a nice touch as well!
After this review all sheets pillows and towels were replaced. I am very sorry for the hot weather. These hosts suffered from the hottest weather since 1920 and this impacted their stayed. There were power cuts and the internet power failed in many parts of the city. It was a national problem. We sent to the hosts a refund immediately for wifi inconvenience.
