This chic, comfortable, private room sleeps a maximum of 2 guests (children 12+up) in our owner-occupied home, centrally located between the Elmwood Village & Buffalo's West Side. Just blocks from Hotel Henry, Frederick Law Olmsted Parks, The Albright-Knox Art Gallery & Buffalo State College.
Welcome to "The Birdcage!" Built in 1877, our charming home still houses its original wood floors, pocket doors, marble fireplace & bay windows.
YOUR PRIVATE ROOM: "The Cardinal Room" is 1 of 3 private bedrooms, located on the 1st floor apartment of this 3-story home. PLEASE NOTE: THE OTHER TWO BEDROOMS WILL OFTEN BE RENTED TO OTHER AIRBNB GUESTS DURING YOUR STAY.
With a very comfortable full-sized bed, you will have no problem making yourself at home!
When leaving for the day, please remember to close & lock the door to your room as there will often times be other Airbnb guests staying in "The Birdcage" as well. ;)
On the last day of your stay, please leave your room door open & be sure to put your set of house key(s) in the Master lock box no later than 11:00AM. (Please send us a message once you've checked out)
SHARED KITCHEN: You are welcome to the common items in the fridge/freezer/pantry. We almost always keep the kitchen stocked with breakfast basics. Fruit, juice, creamer, milk, sugar, cereal, coffee, tea, oatmeal, bread, butter and jam.
There is plenty of room in the fridge, freezer & pantry to store food items. Please be sure to take only your own items with you upon check-out.
You are free to use any dishes/pots/pans etc., but please remember to clean up after yourself when finished (that includes wiping counter spaces, spills etc.)
***PLEASE NOTE THERE IS NO CENTRAL AIR AND NO T.V. IN THIS UNIT. Please feel free to bring your laptop if you'd like to watch a movie or t.v. show as WiFi access is available.***
You will have full access to the common living spaces in the apartment. Feel free to do any work at the desk in the living room & there are countless books & travel guides to peek through in the library! Please make yourself at home!
The bathroom is shared only with fellow Airbnb guests. If there are other guests staying the same nights as you, be sure to discuss schedules for the morning so that there are no bathroom conflicts. Most common bathroom amenities are located above the toilet and there is an iron in the kitchen cupboard below the pots & pans.
Our spacious front & back patios are great for lounging!

We often host other Airbnb guests on this floor of the "Birdcage", so feel free to mingle with other travelers! Maybe you'll even want to grab a drink or a bite to eat with other guests. That's what the Bed & Breakfast culture is all about!
Many of our guests are visiting for just a limited time, so you may see guests in & out a lot, or not at all. Keith & I are happy to recommend local restaurants, bars, shops & activities if you're looking for something to do during your stay!

We were born & raised in Buffalo. We love to travel the world just as much as we love to be in the comfort of our own home.
It's extremely easy for someone to fall in love with Buffalo. Our city welcomes the foodie, the architect lover, the sports fanatic, the artist, the musician, & everyone else in between!
I'm a Professional Photographer and Keith works as a Fisheries and Wildlife Biologist. We've both traveled Southeast Asia extensively & Keith speaks Mandarin extremely well!
Atticus is our Great Pyrenees. She's about 10 years old & has a heart of gold. She is a lover of all people & will most certainly do her best to welcome you to the "Birdcage" (as we lovingly refer to our home).
