The village of Ashbourne was stunning with lots of gorgeous independent boutiques, coffee houses etc. It was a great base for exploring the area(URL HIDDEN) The house itself was beautifully and tastefully done out with lovely detail such as a cake on arrival, clothes rail / hangers, books and board games etc. In particular, our 12 year old loved the great Wi-Fi(URL HIDDEN)Some mentioned traffic noise in reviews but (and we live in a very quiet area) it really wasn't an issue (and we have four children, 3 aged four and under). The road was busy during rush hour but quiet on evenings(URL HIDDEN) Our only issue was a few faults in the kitchen: the oven kept turning off, meaning you had to stand by it to ensure it didn't click off (which would have been dangerous on a gas oven) . There were no shelves in the fridge, so we had to pile food up in the bottom (tricky for a family of 6 for 5 nights) and the freezer was so full of half-eaten food so was all iced up, making it unusable. We emailed all couple of days in about this but sadly got no response until the night we returned. These a relatively minor and it is still great value, but ands we ate in every night, food storage was was a was a bit tricky.
A lovely home, clean and well presented. Cake and milk provided on arrival. Check-in was via a coded keybox so very easy. 2 lovely sofas. 3 double beds very comfortable. Parking was a bit of an issue, the private driveway is used as an accessway by a neighbour and isn't wide enough to park on and still leave access. Plenty of free parking on surrounding roads though. Fast Wi-Fi, sky tv, central heating, log fire. The stairs are very steep, a bit difficult for my elderly father-in-law. A lot of noise from the road due to a massive amount of heavy goods vehicles passing feet away from the front wall, apparently a bypass is being planned to deal with this. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay however, much better than a hotel, free space and the time to do as you please. If you can deal with the road noise then I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.
Really great location, so close to the town centre. Only downside is that all the bedrooms are on the main road side of the building, lorries are coming through at all hours through the night and the road gets busy during weekday mornings. Weekends weren't so bad. The host has installed soundproofing on the windows, I understand these things can't be fully blocked out! Really good house with towels, bedding, kitchen utensils and everything you could need included!
An absolutely stunning house in the heart of Ashbourne. 3 massive bedrooms and gorgeous living space. The roll top bath was a delight! We had a great time at this house. No parking but you can park for 30 mins outside to unload and then park round the corner for free. The house is on a busy road and so can be quite noisy but we just ended up zoning it out. 20 minutes drive to Alton Towers which was brilliant for us.
