NOTE: Some guests have commented on the bleak conditions of the houses in the surrounding area. The extent of overgrown lots, abandoned and burnt-out houses, decaying and crumbling buildings can be disheartening to say the least. If you've never been to Detroit or aren't familiar with our recognized ruin porn, you may be taken aback by such global blight. Rest assured, there are several charming and family-friendly neighborhoods throughout the city--our neighborhood being one of the best! And although this Airbnb is located in an area of high vacancy, you'll find our block to be a family-friendly oasis—fully occupied and very neighborly.

I live in a unique Detroit neighborhood along with several other family members. We're all interested in art, reading, bicycles, gardening and farming. When traveling, I like to learn about the architecture and history of the places I visit. I frequent art museums and historical homes. While I love going out to eat, I feel more at home if I'm at a place where I can cook my own breakfast and raid the frig for a midnight snack.
