Dave is happy to give you a farm tour to meet the animals. Ours are friendly because they are hand fed. We have cows, sheep, free range hens (rescued from a factory), rare breeds including a miniature cow, beautiful hens, sometimes pigs and bee hives. Wander in the park like gardens, have breakfast or relax with a wine in the evenings.
Plenty of off street parking.

Dave can take you on a farm tour to meet the animals. This takes one to one and a half hours, $10 per person, children free. We enjoy spending time talking with guests over a coffee or tea. You are welcome to bring your own wine, beer or picnic.
Happy to advise about restaurants in the area - having tried most. There is an fun Japanese teppanyaki 8 mins away in Kaiapoi. Also Moroccan, Indian, Chinese, Vietnamese.
For groups of 4 or more, Dave enjoys relieving his chefing days - will treat you to a 3 course meal featuring food from his fishing trips and the farm. Silver service @ $55/head. Bring own wine or beer and watch a cooking demonstration. Needs to be requested in advance as your dinner may be presently eating grass.
We have horse grazing or space for parking camper vans etc. You can bring your dog under another listing for a seperate studio.
Swing, books and toys for children as well as animal feeding.
Our water is pumped from our own bores - lovely quality to drink straight from the tap. Along with our animal welfare philosophy, we consider how to conserve water - simple things like not leaving taps to run while brushing teeth, showers under 15 mins. Shower has good water pressure. No smoking inside. Respectful of noise levels at night especially after 11pm.
Kia ora from Julie and Dave. Julie is a fabric and food teacher. Dave is NZ Maori, a retired builder who enjoys deep sea fishing. He is busy caring for animals and bees to produce our own organic food. We rescue hens from factory/battery production and rehabilitate them into free range happy hens. Your booking supports their care programme and their eggs feature in delicious breakfasts. During August to December we concentrate on calf rearing - purchasing 50-60 calves from dairy farms, that would have otherwise been sent to the freezing works at just 4 days old. They are truly delightful being hand-fed twice a day. Both Julie and Dave previously owned restaurants and like to cook. Italy is our favourite travel destination. Dave plays the clarinet and Julie the ukulele. We like latin dancing and belong to a wine club. The farm is close to Kaiapoi and Rangiora towns as well as Christchurch city so we are keen movie goers. On Fridays there is a farmers market close by in Ohoka - delicious food. On Saturday's, Lyttelton has a lovely street market with a seaside atmosphere so stay with us a few days - there is plenty to see and do.
