A beautiful 3 bedroom house with a wonderful mature garden and parking a few metres away (a rarity in the old town of Motovun). The house has been featured in Elle Decoration!
Renovated over 5 years the Hilltop Retreat offers original character [stone walls, olive grinder] complimented by the work of local craftsmen [handmade doors, windows, shutters, kitchen and oak stairs] and the technology you need [air con, flatscreen TV, cable, wireless broadband, freestanding Smeg cooker and fridge-freezer, Bosch dishwasher].
Arranged across 200 sq metres over 4 floors the house is ideal for 6 with a huge master bedroom with an en suite, 2 further double bedrooms, 3 toilets, 2 showers, 1 bath tub, 2 living rooms/reception rooms, 2 terraces and mature herb and fruit garden.
Children are very welcome and a cot, junior bed and baby feeding chair are provided. Pets can be accommodated in most cases.
One living room/library has a large open fireplace; the garden comes with a bbq; there is a dining table and chairs for up to 10 and you can park cars just 10 metres away.
The house has been recommended by Time Out as one of the best places to stay in Croatia and was featured in Elle Decoration.
Motovun is the perfect base for exploring and relaxing away from the Summer crowds. Built by the Venetians it's ancient walls sit high above the truffle-packed forest, sloping vineyards and River Mirna below. The sea shimmers on the horizon, just 15-minutes away. Today Motovun is home to 300 inhabitants and has all you need: locals selling fruit & veg, wine & liquors, a fish 'man in van' selling the day's catch, bars, cafes and restaurants...plus a swimming pool and spa with massage service.
Motovun is in the heart of Istria, a Northern coastal region of Croatia, christened 'Terra Magica' by the Romans, and 'The New Tuscany' by travel-writers is a land of truffles, wine, olive oil and bucolic bliss. It was part of Italy until World War II and has great restaurants Italians now cross the border to savour. Here, nothing is far away: the crystal clear Adriatic Sea, Roman ruins, wine roads, golf courses, oyster farms, music & film festivals, mountain biking, horse-riding; even elephants on the Brijuni Islands. Trieste, Venice and Slovenia are an easy drive or ferry boat ride.
You will have access to all parts of the house.

Our host Jakov is there if you need him but no interaction will be imposed on guests unless they want it :)
Treat the house as if it were your own. We put a lot of love and effort in to making it as comfortable and as beautiful as it is.
