This small room is ideal MAX two non-romantic :) travelers on two bunks (though better suited for solo traveler) seeking a good deal on accommodations in Bermuda - and hey - we're on a boat!

It has a small private marine bath/shower as pictured.

Prostor

Other rooms with both larger and smaller accommodations/beds that we host afloat can be viewed here:
https://www.airbnb.com/s?host_id=10330314&s_tag=6A0K4cV-

Please note - our Master and VIP rooms are better suited to couples. If you are on a honeymoon and requesting this room, we would much prefer to try and work with you to upgrade you to something more suitable, or decline in the interest of ensuring that our guests have a great experience.

You will be on-board a fully functional, well traveled ocean going yacht, which will remain safely in the protected harbor of the historical Royal Naval Dockyard for your visit :)

One of the perks is enjoying a drink on the bow, or upper bridge at the end of the day, or the same with coffee in the morning. Clearly, this is not a cookie cutter Holiday Inn. If you like funky guest homes, or want to try something different...this may well be a great home base for your Bermuda excursion. With the ferry terminal right across the water, launching to other parts of the island a breeze.

Like to stand up paddle board or rent mountain bike or moped? Right next door.

Dostupno gostima

Guests will have their own private room with two single beds and small bath, and use of interior/exterior public areas. A tour of the engine room and other systems can be arranged upon request. When in Bermuda I may be in another stateroom as I find this allows me to give good attention to my guests and has worked out well so far offering a good balance of social time and privacy/quiet time.

Wifi provided free of charge. Bath towel and hair dryer provided - no need to pack.

We do not provide meals, but coffee and tea are provided as a courtesy. Best spot for coffee in the morning at port as when on the sea is the upper flybridge!

As this is a budget listing it does not offer access to vessel cooking facilities - for this see some of the larger rooms.

Born and raised, I am happy to tell you more about my island home, and some of the must see/do spots and activities....many of which are right here in the 'West End'. If you haven't had a few swizzles, seen the hall of history painting, or walked horseshoe bay (URL HIDDEN) time for a crash course...let's talk. Getting around the island is easy both by public transportation, or moped rental. I'm happy to talk you through it. Ferries are my favorite, fast and comfortable, with the cheapest tour from the water going! Walks or bike rides through what was once the 'railway trail' (and now a greenway) are a not to be missed excursion. If you're a biker I can point you in the right direction, or even join you.

Ostale napomene

Have a look at the Air BNB section titled "amenities" for further details on the listing. We get asked almost daily if rooms are air conditioned - the answer is yes - this and more is covered in that section :)

As listed this is a private room. Think of us as a floating guest house with character. We have travelers visit, and now even re-visit us from literally all over the world. She's a large enough vessel that there are several common areas to lounge (salon/living room, upper bridge dining and lounge, bow seating, rear deck dinging table) with other travelers, or move to a quiet spot on your own with a good book, or morning coffee/tea.

*Please note - we are a BOAT! Not recommended for anyone challenged to walk or climb, if you are pregnant, or as listed not for very young children.

All of this should go without saying and is common courtesy, however we must ask in advance that you agree to:

***While we can host events and private parties, and can charter the vessel (she's great for adventuring the islands, and nights on anchor); this is not encompassed within an Air BNB booking. If interested, let's discuss.

• Not suitable for pets

• Quiet time after 9:45pm - please always be respectful of other guests and neighbors

• No smoking - except outside, and away from any others who don't smoke. Please get a container for ashes, and do not throw butts into the water. All doors are to be closed smoke does not travel inside. If these rules are broken and we have to clean up ashes - or clean and wipe down all interior surfaces after smoke drifts in leaving an invisible carcinogenic residue- there may well be a charge to you - let's avoid that!

• Shoes off before entering vessel please!

• The old boat saying is do not put anything into the marine 'head' (toilet), unless you have eaten it first! Small amounts of toilet paper only at a time - ok. Please no feminine products, underwear, paper towel, condoms, makeup removing pads, or rags. This will cause a stoppage at expense and inconvenience to us both. Failure to follow these rules, and if we have to disassemble a toilet to remove something that never should have been put in it - we reserve the right to apply for a credit after check out.
• Please do not come onto vessel sandy - rinse off before doing so at the beach - or on the dock if need be. Shower drains on boats are not the same as in a house - they can not handle lots of sand from the beach/clothing.

•We have carpet and wood floors - please be courteous with suitcases.

• Please do not come inside if soaking wet - we can provide plenty of towels - but also don't leave them outside to blow away :)

• If you are cooking - we are happy to share some groceries (and guests/host often cook or cocktail together anyway) if on your first night you have not been able to go grocery shopping, but please don't take this as a free for all when host is away. If you use seasonings and condiments, please consider contributing one to the collection before you go. Vessel's private liquor cabinet is off limits...this should go without saying :)

• As mentioned we provide coffee and tea; and cooking facilities if the room you book has it listed in "amenities". What we do not provide is groceries or a cook (though a private chef can be arranged with advance notice) - though often guests make friends and cook together, and or cook with host for a dinner party of two during their stay. It really is great fun to do so, especially with travelers coming from all over the world. We have had some stellar meals!

• We have a trash can - please put all trash in there. Again, we are all staying together, so we do ask for a little help to take a bag out here and there when you are heading out, especially if you are with a larger group. Wine and Bermuda Rum bottles can add up quick when having evening cocktails! :)
• As posted there is no swimming in the marina for your safety. There are gorgeous beaches a short walk away.
• Fishing inside the marina in prohibited

• If you use dishes, please not only wash up after, but put them away when dry.

***If your are new to air bnb, you should know that this is quite different from booking a full service hotel room at much greater cost; especially in Bermuda. Think of it more like coming to say with and visit a new friend...and the courtesy that goes with it. For us this is not a business, and our rates do not cover the costs of the vessel. In order to offer these rates and host you - we need your help to do so! If you cook, please clean up after yourself, aiming to leave it better than when you found it. We have a dishwasher - life is too short to hand-wash, and you are on vacation! If everyone does this, it just keeps things simple.

Had an absolutely lovely stay with Darren on the Cortina. Fantastic location IN the dockyard close to public transportation (ferry and bus), comfortable accommodations. Felt like home for 8 days. Friendly and helpful with everything from suggesting excursions to public transportation suggestions. Would love to stay again!

Great time staying on the Cortina. Highly recommend this as an accommodation choice. Nothing like sleeping on a boat. Great kitchen and chill space. Darren was a welcoming host.

Darren is a great host with local knowledge of adventures off the beaten path. The boat is a nice boat the crew quarters are what I expected and were perfectly suited for me. I traveled alone and do not look for luxury. My trip was much fun and Darren identified great hidden Treasures. If you are happy to be on a boat this would be an excellent choice.

I booked the Crew's Quarters in May 2016, for a February 2017 trip. Right after I booked the room, Darren sent a message suggesting that I look at the other, bigger rooms. I chose not to change rooms because of my budget. Two days before my trip, Darren emailed to say he could not host us because he had volunteered to join a search and rescue mission that, inexplicably, would not commence until four days later. He said he could still host us for the first two nights, then sent a reservation update changing it again to only the first night. He again recommended that we upgrade to a larger room, but did not specify whether the upgrade would be free, so, given that it was last-minute and we were busy trying to find somewhere else to stay, I did not ask for the upgrade. We were able to find another place to stay, but at twice the price. At some point on the first day of our trip, he offered to let us stay a second night for free, but of course by then we had booked another place and, as we were travelling, we didn't even see the message. When he was showing us the boat during check-in, there were engine parts strewn about the main room and he explained that he was "in the middle of an engine rebuild," which struck us as odd if he was about to go out in search of a lost vessel. One last time, he asked if we would like to upgrade to a bigger room and noted that I had not responded to his last request to do so. I told him that I didn't respond because it wasn't clear if the upgrade would be free and that we would only be interested in a free upgrade. At that point, he told us that we could stay in a bigger room for no extra charge because he uses the Crew's Quarters for storage and does not actually host people there. The room was comfortable and clean. Darren was friendly to us, but, given the circumstances, we found him to be disingenuous and irritating. We were not surprised to see that the boat remained docked for the rest of week.

Darren odgovara:
1) In early 2017 Vessel Cortina was the only vessel capable and willing on short notice to engage in a search for a missing vessel 100 miles off of Bermuda. This was an extenuating circumstance - and not something we have ever had to do before. Thus we contacted Jenna well ahead of time just incase, and made sure she had a place to stay with us when she landed, offered her a FREE upgrade, and even discounted the rate she already had. This search for missing vessel was quite the unexpected experience, and a story of adventure and stormy nights at sea, that is now a story we tell to guests aboard the Cortina at night, when safely at port with a warm beverage in hand. 2) The crew quarters consists of 2 small bunks, a tiny space and is quite basic - people book it because it is inexpensive by Bermuda standards - but it is NOT well suited for 2 lady travelers. In such cases we would rather give someone a deal on the larger 2 bedroomand know they are comfortable - or as in this case offered a FREE upgrade to the VIP. In fact every guests who has booked the crew quarters in past months, including a guest at the time of this writing have been given FREE upgrades so they would be more comfortable. It gives them a better experience and night’s rest, and we are happy to do so whenever possible. 3) We pre-emptively contacted Jenna given the search for vessel - when we were later grounded by severe winter weather we offered for her to stay additional days for FREE in the larger room we had already upgraded her to for FREE. Never was Jenna sent an air bnb ‘change request’ for a more expensive room - she was simply offered it for - here is that word again - free... 4) As in our detailed writeup on how to get to us from airport, ferry service, location etc. - we request as a primary means of communication a text message or phone call if one wishes, so that we can meet up, give guests and introduction, assist with bags, and give them a set of keys. A $0.75 international text message or two, is a cheap cost to make this process seamless, and not waste a guest’s time so they can get on vacationing! For the odd guest over the years who does not have a phone, they have managed to call from Taxi, or e.g. text from coffee shop at the ferry for example. 5) As stated in our listing, we are a fully functioning yacht. That means, approximately every 10 years an engine requires being rebuilt. As it happens, and as we were preparing to go out on a search offshore in bad weather - we were doing major engine maintenance. This did not affect the forward living areas of the vessel where Jenna was accommodated, nor the living room, nor the galley. As we are a fully functioning vessel, and this is why many choose to stay with us - other guests found the tour of the engine room and the goings on quite fascinating. We are sorry that this happening in a completely separate area of the vessel for first time in 10 year, working not while she was present, was of bother to her - especially when her stay was the absolute cheapest that we have ever offered. Given the circumstances, we did the best we could for her at the time. Our reviews from other guests, over the course of over 3 years speak for themselves.

Awesome experience to stay on a boat. I did not get to meet Darren but met very friendly people on the boat. Communication was very easy with Darren though to make it all work. Its not a 5 star hotel but its as comfortable as it gets on a boat. Very clean, towels readily accessible. Walking diatance to main public transportation and bike/scooter rentals. Had an awesome time!

I made a big mistake by staying on Darren's yacht for four nights. I should have booked for the entire week. His housekeeper Michelle was there to receive me upon arrival and I was the recipient of an exceptional welcome. She is an ambassador for the island and a knowledgeable guide for making the most of your visit. I loved living on the boat. Sunrise and sunset on the upper bridge were my favorite periods. Absolutely beautiful.

This definitely beats the standard cruise ship experience. The room is small but comfortable -- very good for travelers who are flexible and want something unique. Both the wifi and the air conditioning work well. The location is very good for getting around to other parts of the island too. Getting to tell people you're staying on a yacht is super cool.

Thanks for the review Leigh. A side note for readers - the crew quaters is the smallest room on the vessel....any of the other 3 rooms carry more room and larger beds....up to the master with a King: https://www.airbnb.com/s?host_id=10330314&s_tag=6A0K4cV-
