I probably won't be here when you arrive ... however, I'm only a phone call or text away and I'm happy to recommend services, restaurants, nice walks and places to visit by e mail in advance. My cleaners are local and can arrange to meet with you if you need anything. There is a key safe outside for access. If you would like a holiday hamper of goodies made up by the local delicatessens, please do advise and we can place an order for you. Also happy to arrange a massage on your behalf with either masseur/masseuse who live close by ..
There are lots of lovely pubs to enjoy on the moor, many with open fire places in winter. Try the Rugglestone Inn in Widecombe in the Moor...
To respect the space, and take care of things as if it was your own home. One well behaved dog welcome. Not suitable for young children, or disabled/infirm, due to nature of stairs .. No smoking in the Apartment .. smoking permitted in the garden.
I have lived in Ashburton for 11 years. I almost sold the house a year ago, but in the end, couldn't bear to part with it. I decided to stay and make some radical alterations...! The apartment is actually my own living space outside of the summer season. I'm living on the next level down while I rent out the top storey. Refurbing this level will probably be the next project, when finances allow... If I'm around I'm more than happy to describe to you my favourite places, and even show you around if you like. I'm a garden designer, garden tour guide and hands on gardener by profession...Dartmoor is very dear to me - I lived up on it for 7 years before moving to the bright lights of Ashburton(!) My interests include design, good food and conversation, films - Philomena, the last Quartet, Girl with a Pearl Earring, the King's Speech, Avatar... I enjoy going to a drama group locally - mostly for fun and to learn how to improvise...I'm also interested in psychology, and Zen. With my recent building project and garden design projects, I've been enjoying getting to know the local tradesmen and craftsmen. They are 'salt of the earth' people and I have a big respect for them... If I had a life motto it would be something like 'Live without regrets', which could also be translated into: 'Do it now! None of us will live forever'! I look froward to welcoming you to my home sometime soon. In the meantime, follow your dreams... Francoise :-)
