Private and cozy basement space sleeps max 4 guests in 2 beds, 10 min bus trip from Times Square/Midtown with 24/7 transit going every 5 min. Easy access to Empire State Building, Central Park, Top of the Rock, The Highline, etc. NYC skyline views are a few blocks away at historic Hamilton Park. This is the basement apartment in a small building and there is a shared outdoor table at the back where you can have a cig or drink a coffee. No cooking facilities! Microwave only, no stove
This is a cute and cozy studio apartment in Weehawken, NJ. It is 10 min bus ride to Midtown near Times Square via the Lincoln Tunnel. This sweet little studio has a pull out trundle bed (single becomes a double) as well as a full size fold down futon. You have a small little patio at the back (exit apartment, down the hall, through the door) where you can have a cigarette, if you smoke. Absolutely no smoking indoors. The studio is a partial basement with above ground windows. This means only a few stairs to manage with heavy luggage!
The studio is a perfect size for three people. Although you can fit four, it will be tight, but it's up to you!
There is a small galley kitchenette with a microwave, fridge, sink and counter space to sit down. There is no stove or oven, although we do provide an electric kettle and a coffee machine. There's a small grocery across the street where Ms. Kim makes great breakfast sandwiches.
You don't have to bring bed linens, towels or a hair dryer, we will provide you with fluffy clean towels and all you need to feel comfortable and at home!
Our neighborhood is residential, green and safe. Being very close to the Hudson River that separates it from Manhattan makes this a top location to enjoy Manhattan’s breathtaking skyline, day or night. Our apartment is 2 blocks away from the first bus stop after boarding from Port Authority Bus terminal in Manhattan. (Read further down for more details about transportation)
The house is equipped with central heat and air conditioning. High speed wireless internet, and other convenient things like iron, city guides, maps, etc. are provided.
About Transportation: I have received many questions from people who don't believe it possible to be outside of Manhattan and so close to it, yet it's true. Here are some facts about transportation:
The Apartment is 4 minutes (4 blocks) from the bus stop.
The bus is very frequent, I rarely wait for it more than 2 to 3 minutes. Most of the time you won't even wait at all. You will step to the bus stop and a bus will be there.
Buses are available 24/7 so you can catch them even when you spend the whole evening out. Check out my guidebook here to see what's around us. NOTE: If you hop on a Gate 51 Bus (one of the many that will go by), this bus stops running at 1am. That's not the only bus home though, so just look in my house manual for info on the 24h bus!
The price of these express buses is $3 on board in cash (cash only, no tickets, no passes, no discounts for bulk buys)
You won't find these buses timetable or route on the internet, it's a private bus company that runs many lines in and out of Manhattan. Don't make the mistake of asking for info on this private bus company from NJ Transit or Port Authority Bus Terminal info desk - they don't know! Trust my directions instead.
Many ask about the price and extra fees and how to pay. When you put in the dates and number of people you will get our total cost. There are no taxes on top of this, but AirBnB adds their fee. It varies between 6-12% on top of our price.
All the payments are safely made with credit card to AirBnB when booking. They hold the money until the day you check in and will then transfer it to us.
Bookings with us are done with the "strict" cancellation policy and all cancellations should be done through AirBnB. This being said, if we manage to re-rent the place the nights you have canceled we can give a bigger refund to you than what the strict cancellation policy dictates. The earlier you cancel the bigger the chance that we will find other guests.
To confirm that you have read the entire description, please include the secret word "guggenheim" in your inquiry to me.
Parking: There are two options for parking. 1) municipal lot two blocks away, good option if you arrive before 5pm otherwise all the spots will be gone 2) Street parking. This is tricky, as there are more cars than spaces, so easy enough before 5pm, tougher after that. Let us know if you decide to park in the lot or on the street, as we’ll provide you with a visitor permit ($25 deposit, held until permit is returned. Parking is hard around here, and you absolutely will NOT need a car for sightseeing.
We are not able to accommodate late check out or bag storage, but we are happy to help you organize luggage storage in Manhattan.
This is a totally private apartment and you'll have your own keys. I live a few blocks away and can help you when needed.

Important things to note about the area:
* We are not in Manhattan, but we are very close.
* The buses that run every 5 minutes, 24/7 take cash only, no tickets, no passes. The Manhattan "metrocard" does not work on this bus, it's a different system altogether. This is important to know when you are planning your budget. The bus is $3 per trip.
This area is super diverse quiet neighborhood with a Walking Score of 91. You won't be bothered or have to worry about walking by yourself from bus. It's very family oriented and the people are super friendly. Make sure you take a walk 10 min north to Hamilton Park to see the incredible skyline view.
This little apartment was the building caretakers apartment that was recently renovated. It's in the basement of the building and has a separate entrance from the upstairs units.
Coin operated washer/dryer in building hallway.
- No Smoking inside the apartment
- Only guests noted on booking may be inside the apartment. Absolutely no extra guests (children, toddlers, etc. all must be included in guest count) without prior approval and correction of guest count on booking.
- Trash must be taken out before check out time to bins on side of building.
- Quiet hours between 10pm and 8am. There are other residents in the building who need to be considered.
We have a number of listings, so look for me online at superhostnyc. Each of our listings has very easy access into Times Square - we are big advocates of our local bus service which we call the "chicken bus". Buses run every 5 min, 24/7 to Times Square. Take a look at our guest reviews to see what travelers say about getting in and out of NYC. We are not agents, my husband, Jay and I take care of guests full time!
We are Canadians living in the US, and are well traveled ourselves and know how important a good nights sleep is while you're away.
We will make sure that you are comfortable here.
