Built in the 1930's, it offers a bit of history combined with the old Hawaiian charm. With recent renovations it boasts all the modern comforts of today. Enjoy the fresh fruit, vegetables, and herbs from the garden on site. The gardener will leave banana's and any other produce when they are available. The community pool and gym are located on the west side of Dole park approximately three blocks away.
The house is located in the heart of Lanai City situated conveniently between the library and Cavendish golf course. Three and a half blocks from the town square. You are not near a beach in Lanai City. It is in the center of the island. The Lanai Guest House is one of the original homes built in the early 20th century for the pineapple industry.
As a guest you will have access to the entire property. Outside seating, garden (discuss with me before hand on what is available to harvest, please keep children out of the box garden), driveway parking, street parking available as well.

You check yourself in on arrival. I, or the gardener (if I am off island) will be visiting daily (if no rain) to water and check on the garden. We will try to set up a time that works best for you. If we are available, we may check you out or we may have you leave the key. Whatever works best.
The price includes the 4% required GET and the 9.25% transient accommodation tax. We have a small collection of books at the house. Feel free to enjoy during your stay, but please don't take them with you. Recycling is located under the microwave. You can empty in the bigger recycling box located near the front porch. Only HI-5 deposit bottles, cans, and plastic are accepted at the Recycling center on Lana'i. Please discuss with me if you plan to use the fire pit, so I can go over some rules. It's a quiet neighborhood, things shut down in town around 8, really really quiet time is at 10. If sleeping on the couch, please use sheets provided. Research the island before you come. Please note where the toilet is located on the floor plan provided. This is typical plantation style. Not the way we would of done it today, but back then, this was standard. I suggest leaving the back bathroom door unlocked at night and people in the guest bedroom can access from the back. Or walk through the master bedroom, depending on your comfort level. It hasn't been a problem in the past. Just something to be aware of.

Be respectful of the house, property, and neighbors. There is a welcome notebook located on the coffee table with further instructions and/or house rules. Kids should be on their best behavior (but we know accidents happen). We will not tolerate destruction of house or furniture. Please watch after your fellow guest and keep it clean. Food stays in the kitchen, etc. Fruit loops under the couch = ants. This is a silly one but I have to add, keep hands off the television screen please (it has happened in the past with sticky fingers). Please no playing in the box garden. We had selected that it wasn't suitable for kids in the past, but we have bunk beds, and it really is a wonderful place to bring your family. We didn't want the actions of a few to ruin it for everyone. That being said, just be mindful. Treat it like your own house or a friends, not a hotel. Please clean up after yourself. There is a $50 cleaning fee, but that only covers 2/3 the cost of someone coming in to wash the sheets, sweep, mop, and dust. Things beyond that are extra. If we find spaghetti sauce all over the kitchen, for example, we probably won't be inviting you back. Clean your dishes. Be mindful of sand, it can do major damage to the hardwood floors and plumbing. Hang up wet towels to dry. Smoking is only allowed on the front or back porch areas, not in the house. If you break any of these rules, We will have to consider writing it in your review. Events allowed only if previously approved by me or the manager on island (if I am away).
We have to cover these rules to protect the house, but in all honesty we are very laid back and understanding. If something happens like you break something, etc, please just tell us. It will be better to hear it from you than for us to realized after you are gone. Thank you for your consideration.
