Gallerija House is a central 3 bedroom guesthouse in the charming old part of Victoria, Gozo. Its a central location, a minute from the main squares with their picturesque churches and cafes, three minutes from the historic Citadella, and five minutes from the main bus station (giving you easy access to the whole island). The Gallerija Room is a very large first floor double room with high ceilings, a small balcony, a traditional balcony window, and modern pod bathroom (no doors).
The Gallerija Room is a large room on the first floor of Gallerija House, a small guesthouse very centrally located in the historic part of Victoria, Gozo and a practical base for exploring the island. The room has a double bed, and an ensuite pod style bathroom - screened on three sides, but not closed in with a door (its a 250 year old limestone building so we need to maximise air circulation). The room has doors onto a small Juliet balcony, a window, plus a traditional 'Gallerija' balcony window - one of only two round ones in Gozo! The room faces the street which is quiet and closed to through traffic, but does have the occasional motorbike pass through and people chatting as they head to the shops or church. Please be aware that all village cores in Malta are built around the church - all have bells that ring throughout the day and night! Most guests find it fits with the culture and the atmosphere, but we do provide ear plugs for those that find it annoying :-)
As well as your en-suite bedroom, you have access to the downstairs of the house with seating, guide books, free wifi, tea and coffee making, a fridge and some basic equipment for preparing cold food (not hot cooking).

Rachel works next door to Gallerija House so is available to answer questions and help you plan your stay. Cornil is just a street away, or a phone call away, and is fantastic at arranging cars, taxis, or bookings for activities etc. You'll find an information pack in your room which includes a map, and advice on things to do and places to eat etc.
Please note that from 1st June 2016, a new Environmental Contribution tax of 50 cents per person per night applies to all accommodation in Malta. This can not be included in the room rate, and we legally have to collect it from guests on arrival (sorry!).
The local festas of St George (mid July) and Santa Marija (mid August) are right on our doorstep and although fun its also noisy. We will advise you accordingly if you book these dates!
11th - 17th July is the festa of San Gorg and the 8th - 15th August is the festa of Santa Marija. Both happen very close to the house - which is great fun - but do expect noise from bells and fireworks.
We expect our guests to respect the house, other guests and our neighbours. Rooms are for a maximum of two people and the communal area for guests only. The house is strictly no pets and no smoking.
Hi - we're Rachel and Cornil. We're from the UK and France, but we've lived on the lovely island of Gozo in Malta for nearly 10 years. Rachel is a jewellery designer and silversmith and runs a little shop called Prickly Pear, and Cornil manages Gozo Adventures which offers sea kayaking, climbing, hiking, biking and eco tours.
We've recently bought a house next to Rachel's shop and in the street next to where we live. Its an old house, which we think started life as a farmhouse over 250 years ago, before becoming a cotton merchants house, and then being divided into town houses. We love this area of Victoria - its central (1 min walk to the main square, 3 mins to the Citadella and 5 mins to the bus station) but its also quiet and traditional and full of 'real life'.
As we're both working full time, we don't provide breakfast or tours - but its easy to get around the island by bus, and there are 17 cafes within a 3 minute walk! If you need help or advice to make the most of your stay we're right next door and happy to help. If we aren't there, we're probably just 50m away in St George's Square having a coffee or glass of wine and people watching :-)
