One of the latest designer handbags, made by the British luxury goods maker Mulberry, has been named Kensal with its advertising campaign staring Cara Delevigne. The area has an array of trendy boutique shops, independent bars and cafes. You’ll find an original sixties gents barber here – Gee Barber and Britain’s first independent cinema and social enterprise – The Lexi Cinema. Interestingly, the movie theatre is staffed by volunteers and all its profits are given to an eco-village in South Africa. You’ll be rubbing shoulders with British A-list celebrities including model, actress and former girlfriend of Jude Law, Sienna Miller. Roald Dahl’s grand daughter, model turned author Sophie Dahl as well as movie star Thandie Newton, just to name a few.
In keeping with the trendy neighbourhood the owner of this stylish house is an interior designer and from the minute you step though the front door it becomes very apparent! As you enter, the living room is on your left. It has a beautiful contemporary feel with cool colours and lush furnishings. The room is adorned with interesting pieces such as a 1970’s style hanging reading lamp above the up-market milk chocolate sofa, which sits underneath the front window. Porcelain vases are just behind with stylish silk flowers. From the cool, chic granite fireplace to the bamboo paintings on the wall you can tell everything has been well thought out. As you move through to the second half of the room you’ll find the perfect space to chill out in. A high-end L shaped sofa sits in the corner of the room facing a flat screen TV.
Down the hall, tiled with original Victorian black and white dog-tooth tiles you’ll find a conveniently placed WC and then right at the end a big bright, minimalist, eat-in Kitchen. This room, an extension on the house is incredible light due to huge glass doors which open up into the garden. Sitting down at the dining table you feel as if you could be in the garden. A beautiful light feature hangs above the table. Other interesting features include an enormous steal topped marble island with comfortable high chairs round one side. The island accommodates a gorgeous deep sink, four hobs and an oven. You’ll notice exposed brick work lines one side of the wall with open shelves, stylishly displaying kitchen equipment.
The chic grey slate tiles in the kitchen carry out onto a patio area in the garden. A water feature separates the area from a lush green lawn where big leafy shrubs line either side of it and beautiful trees at the end of the garden create blissful privacy.
When you go upstairs you’ll notice gorgeous natural weave carpet. If you walk straight ahead you’ll find a large bright room, which pleasantly looks over the garden. The room is home to one of the owners sons and accommodates a single bed. It is perfectly big enough for an adult and conveniently there is a pull out bed stored underneath it. If you’re a keen traveler you’ll appreciate the huge map of the world covering the right hand wall. You’ll find a desk in the corner of the room, and a bookcase in the other with a wooden director’s chair sat by it.
The family bathroom is next to this room. It is modern and clean cut with a bath and overhanging good quality shower, a wash basin. Up a few steps, you’ll find an impressive master bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. The glorious King sized bed is accompanied by lovely hard wood chest of drawers on either side, with big mirrors above. A chez long lies underneath the big bay sash windows and when the curtains and blinds are drawn the room is filled with natural light. You will certainly relax in style and comfort in here. Off from this room you have the luxury of a dressing room. Space will be made to hang your clothes in here and it will certainly give you the extra space you need to put on your glad rags and look your finest for an evening out in London. The en-suite bathroom, like the family bathroom is modern, simple and clean cut. Similarly there is a bath with overhanging shower. You’ll find a stylish round basin and a big mirrored cabinet above.
On the 2nd floor you have a spacious third bedroom. The space has been used to its full potential with a single bed cleverly tucked into one of the alcoves – a perfect den for kids! The rest of the room is very spacious and could easily accommodate another blow-up single bed if required. You’ll find an en-suite bathroom with a modern, glass door, good quality shower, WC and bathroom.
There is an eco-house at the end of the garden, approximately 20 square meters in size, able to accommodate two further guests. It is a modern design with underfloor heating, a media room with a TV and wireless sound system and its own convenient WC
