Torre Gentile is a hamlet about five kilometers south of one of Italy's most beautiful hill towns, Todi. The map places it incorrectly in another position.
Due to an opening, Barry offered us the run of the "big house" next door - which was a wonderful treat. This review mainly refers to that, although some aspects are shared: We loved: The scenery - classic Umbrian views from the roof-top terrace. Being out of town, but close enough (between a 10-15 min drive to Todi) to get supplies and go out for fabulous meals. Todi: It's stunning. The House - lots of interesting art, books, interesting decor, open-ness, light, old-world charm with modcons. Escaping from the internets: The wifi was patchy, but good enough for some basic web activity - but you won't be tempted to spend a long time on the web reading the news here! The place was spotless, charming, and Barry was very attentive and generous. A very good host!
The Poet's place it's for sure the best accommodation i've ever found on Air BnB. Simply charming, cozy, warm and full of the incredible personality of the host. You can never find any other place like this. Barry, the host, it's a master of hospitality. A genuinely friendly person. It's a pity i've been here only for three nights. Thanks also to the gorgeous surroundings of the hills around Todi, I will return for sure !
We've rented this lovely house thinking that we would like it very much and we haven't been wrong! We were looking for a bit of peace and we definetely found it. The only problem was that we were really unlucky with the weather... and we didn't enjoy Umbria as much as we would like to!!!! Barry has been all the time really kind and helpful. The house is as described in the pictures; it's really nice and cosy: a refuge! You can go visit all the region from there. The check-in was really easy and nice with Laura and I would definetely like to come back there on spring time. Thanks for all Barry!
The man or woman who does not take delight in this beautiful, ancient, rural refuge needs to take a long, cold bath and another holiday. Here, time itself seems to linger for a while and enjoy a rooftop Campari; noise, exhausted form its urban toil, whistles a pastoral tune; space and light, contented, stretch out their legs and switch off their iphones (or at least put them on silent). And the man or women who does not enjoy the company of Barry, the wonderful, thoughtful, cerebral owner, needs to take an even longer, colder bath. We loved staying at the Kind Tower.
