Room in Inveraray available for single (single price quoted) or double occupancy (2 x single beds) + shower with use of Lounge and kitchen. In centre of historic town on Loch Fyne. NB the room will not always be available for single occupancy.
Arkland is an 18th Century listed Georgian building in a quiet lane and there are 2 flats available with 2 bedrooms in each. This room is in the Ground floor with en-suite shower and whb. It is also suitable for 2 people sharing. The flats can be rented individually or together - for larger groups or families travelling together (see my other listings). There are also individual rooms available with use of kitchen and lounge with all facilities. Guests are welcome to use the well-equipped kitchen (for their own use). Breakfast is not included. The whitewashed historic building is situated right in the centre of the picturesque small town of Inveraray near a sea loch in the beautiful district of Argyll on the west coast of Scotland and on the way to Islay - the whisky island. A stroll of only two minutes brings you to the shores of Loch Fyne, one of the longest sea lochs in Scotland and views of the mountains beyond.
Inveraray Castle (home of Clan Campbell) and Inveraray Jail are interesting to visit nearby and there are also many beautiful gardens in the area such as Crarae (NTS) and Ardkinglas Woodland Gardens. There's a lively local tavern with live music on Fridays and Saturdays along the street and sometimes music festivals there and in the area. The famous Loch Fyne seafood and oyster restaurant is a short car journey up the lochside and also a seafood/fish and local produce restaurant opposite the house.
The First Floor flat has two bedrooms: Double room with en-suite shower; the family room has a double and single bed - very comfortable beds with duvets.
Central bathroom with a bath and electric shower.
The lounge is open plan with dining/kitchen area. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with everything you could want for your stay - short or long.
The Ground floor flat (very suitable for anybody not wishing to climb stairs!) - has a twin bedroom with en-suite shower and a double bedroom. There are 2 bed sofas in the living areas.
Both flats are warm with central heating and log effect electric stoves in the lounge area; plenty of hot water; electric showers; hair dryers; radios, tv with freeview, a selection of DVDs and CDs for the music centre; books and maps also games for the children and adults!
Excellent free Wifi in all areas. There is also a piano in the Ground floor flat for guests use.
The flats are bright and airy with lots of lovely prints, paintings and ornaments that I have picked up or chosen carefully on my travels at home and abroad in Mexico, Spain, Cuba and Morocco.
For bird lovers - we have a bird cafe outside the First floor window and a bird table near the Ground floor terrace garden attracting siskins, blue tits, chaffinches, robins, etc
The flats are excellent for individual families or small groups touring or having holidays together - likewise single or double rooms are available for anybody needing a room for a night or two! People think the flats are cosy and welcoming!
I am a professional tour guide, so I can tell you anything about Scotland and help plan your routes and tours. Originally from Scotland, I lived in Spain for many years and speak fluent Spanish. I love to welcome people to Scotland and in particular to the beautiful district of Argyll and tell them about the 'hidden' less touristy places to visit.
For children and babies: There is a fold up cot, high chair and changing mat available.
Well behaved pets are welcome too by prior arrangement! Please bring dog's own clean bedding.
Parking:Nearby parking for cars and vans: There is free parking at top of the lane at or behind the Community Hall, on Main Street or on the main road. There is access for loading and unloading outside flats.
Walkers are very welcome - Arkland is in a good location for walking, forestry, lochside or mountain tracks. There are drying facilities and a tumble dryer is available.
Bikers and Cyclists: There is parking alongside Arkland and a secure shed available for bikes

I am not always in Inveraray as I work as a tour guide but when here (I live in an attic flat in the same building) - I can help with local information or touring routes
Important: Please ensure that you read the HOUSE MANUAL when your booking is confirmed and in advance of your stay so that you know the location of the property, all other details, and can find it easily on arrival as I may not be at home to welcome you. This ensures that you have a trouble free experience even if you arrive late at the property.
I like my guests to enjoy themselves but to respect other people sharing the flat and also neighbours in the flat above or below. All flats and rooms are non-smoking.
I normally allow pets as long as people have arranged this with me in advance
