We came to Annisa's place during our honeymoon, looking for a quiet place to relax and unwind as a couple. Unfortunately it wasn't really what we were hoping for!
On a positive note the view from the front door is amazing and the beach across the way and really perfect for walks. The room itself is beautifully laid-out and the bathroom has pretty tiling and a really elegant shower. Staff are very friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts we had were all delicious.
There were several issues with the room, however, that meant we eventually decided to cut our stay short and go elsewhere. Our primary issue was with the bathroom. As is standard in parts of Indonesia, the bathroom is only partially covered, however this is the first place we've stayed where the toilet itself is beneath the open part of the ceiling. This meant that the seat and bowl collected falling leaves from the surrounding trees, as well as making it very unpleasant to use the toilet while it was raining(an important consideration if you visit during the rainy season, as we did, so it was raining several hours a day). The shower never had hot water while we were there, either. A further strange aspect was that it was only possible to lock or latch the bathroom door from inside the bedroom, causing the door to repeatedly swing open while one of us were in the bathroom, which didn't give us much of an impression of privacy.
There didn't seem to be a working Wi-Fi network in range of the room, and the electricity in the room cut out several times each day we were there, sometimes for several hours. This affected the ability of the AC to cool the place, of course.
Our major issue was really one of noise, though. During the day, there was constant construction going on at either side of the hut(which seems to be the case all over the island at the moment), and as soon as the sun set, a DJ set up in a bar on one side, and a live musician in a bar on the other side. The two did not mix well for a relaxing weekend!
There were plenty of places nearby where you can get food and drinks, and the local nightlife is obviously vibrant. The place would probably make a really perfect post-party crash pad, when you want somewhere within crawling distance of the bars, and none of the above issues are going to have much impact, but as an intimate couple's retreat, it left something to be desired.
