Brsecine is a small village in the north-western part of the Dubrovnik littoral, about 1 km from the cove bearing the same name, 17 km northwest of Dubrovnik, with about 85 inhabitants. There is a small churche, few houses, a very nice beach, walking paths and a bus station in the place.
Economy is based 1 farming and fishing. In the cove is the summer mansi1 of the Zuzoric family from the 16th century.
Only about 2 km away from Brsecine, you can visit the Trsteno Arboretum - the oldest arboretum in this part of the world.
The arboretum was erected by the local noble family Gozze (see House of Gozze) in the late 15th century, who requested ship captains to bring back seeds and plants from their travels. The exact start date for the arboretum is unknown, but it was already in existence by 1492, when a 15 m span aqueduct to irrigate the arboretum was constructed; this aqueduct is still in use.It has been the property of theCroatian Academy of Sciences and Arts since 1948, when it was donated.
