It's a spacious house, well located, away from the tourist area on a hill overlooking Funchal and the ocean. In this location it feels more like living in a quiet town rather than in a city and yet you're in walking distance to the center of town
Besides being spacious and well located, the house is great for people who like to relax outside!
The backyard is ideal for sun bathing because it's private. It's also a great place to sit or have a meal outside all year round. You can drink coffee on the balcony upstairs, and enjoy the wonderful views.
The house as well as the gardens are all yours, at least during your stay :)
The front yard of the property provides a designated area for your car.
It's a 15 minute walk to the center of Funchal and a 17 minute drive from the airport. A perfect location from which to explore the island as it's very central to go either east or west, as well as north. The city is a monument in itself. There are many things you can see and do in Funchal, like visiting the market, the Madeira wine museum, taking a boat trip to watch dolphins and whales, taking a cable car to the gardens of Monte, going on levada walks, etc. From the front side of the house you have views over the mountains and from the backside views over the ocean and the center of Funchal.
Smoking not allowed inside the house, but you may smoke in the garden.
Please, shut the windows of the 3 bedrooms upstairs each time you leave the house, because in case of rain the wooden floors could get damaged. For the same reason, please do not throw wet towels on the wooden floors.
Please, keep the house key to yourself. Never entrust it to locals or other tourists. Guests are not allowed to lodge anyone else in Casa da Costa without our consent. Breaking this rule will cancel your reservation. In the case that we do give our consent, additional fees will apply, according to the length of stay of the additional guests.

I am Dutch and live in Funchal, Madeira with my Portuguese husband. I love this island and enjoy providing hospitality to international travelers.
