Completely renovated (June '16) modern studio cottage, located in a quiet Portland neighborhood only a 7-10 minute drive (and $8 Uber ride) from downtown Portland and the Old Port. Allagash Brewing is just a mile down the road, and you are within walking distance (.5 mi) of the wonderful bars and restaurants at Morrill's Corner.
Everything in my cottage is new, hand-made, or 'upcycled' (one of my hobbies is refinishing antique furniture and/or building furniture). I hope you enjoy!
Sliding barn door for the bathroom, custom-made concrete countertop, handmade furniture and refinished antiques, USB ports for charging electronic devices. Modern rustic: the best of the old world and the new!
The entire cottage and deck is at your disposal, but please do not enter the attic space.

As often or infrequent as it is wanted/desired. I live in the house directly in front of the cottage, so I'm happy to provide restaurant recommendations, suggestions on hikes and day trips, etc...or respect your privacy and let you enjoy Portland on your own. I travel quite a bit for work but I'm almost always going to be around my house and Portland for at least part of your visit.
I'm active in the Yelp community and can give you the lowdown on the amazing local food and drink scene.
The corner shower - while standard sized in Europe (31 inches) - is a bit small by American standards. Visitors who want or need a larger shower may want to consider this prior to booking.
I have basic cable and high speed internet. The TV is connected to a Roku, which gives you access to my Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, and Sling TV accounts. If you have any questions on how to switch between cable and Roku, feel free to ask!
I expect guests to leave the cottage in clean condition: please have cleaned and put away the dishes before departing and put any used towels on the bathroom floor. This is a smoke-free building, so please no smoking anywhere on the premises. No pets. No attic access. I ask you to respect our neighbors, so no parties, and please keep noise down (I live on a quiet residential street).
Hello there! Thank you for considering booking my cottage. A bit about me:
I have lived in Maine almost all my life. I grew up in Northern Maine, went to college at USM in Portland, and then moved away to Boston for 8 years to attain my MA in Intercultural Relations at Lesley University and work. While Boston had its perks, I could not wait to move back!
I have worked mostly in higher education and study abroad, but I have plenty of retail experience under my belt as well. I'm also well-traveled (37 countries and counting!), and travel quite a bit across the US for work, so I'm happy to welcome people from all over the US and the world to Maine.
While I have been using AirBNB for many years now, I have just listed for the first time. I bought my house back in 2015, and have spent the last 6 months completely renovating the small in-law cottage behind my house. While remodeling the space, I took inspiration from my stays in efficiency apartments across Europe and in the US, with the goal of blending those qualities with a Maine aesthetic and warmth.
Otherwise, I'm happy to share my knowledge of Portland and of Maine with you. I'm very active on Yelp and would love to give you food and drink recommendations based on your likes and interests.
