Fully equipped self servicing, typical Kiwi cottage located close to all amenities in the heart of the Arthurs Pass National Park township. A great base for all mountain activities or a relaxing few days away. Cosy and compact with great mountain views. TV and log burner.
The cottage is 70 years old, cosy and rustic. If you are looking for 5 star luxury, then this is not the place. If you want secluded, comfortable cosy and quirky have found it, right here in the National Park.
The Cottage is compact and cosy with two bedrooms. Freeview TV in master bedroom, and lounge. Log burner in the lounge where you can curl up and watch TV or listen to music over a glass of wine.
The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need.
Bathroom has an electric shower for continuous hot water. You will need to supply your own linen, however, towels pillows and blankets are supplied. For longer stays, I can usually supply linen, you will just need to let me know.
I do require guests to leave cottage as they would expect to find it, on departure. This will include, washing own dishes, placing laundry on basket, removing any rubbish, and a quick vacuum if necessary.
Bring any grocery supplies with you, you can purchase basics at the store, but they are over priced. Tea, coffee, sugar and also cooking oil, and a range of spices are available to use. Please re read these instructions, so there is no confusion. This is a typical Kiwi Bach, and it needs to be left as you found it. It Is NOT 5 STAR LUXURY. Please if you want room service, and someone to clean up after you, then check other facilities in Arthurs Pass., if you want a 70 year old Kiwi bach in the heart of the mountains then, you have found it....I have a cleaner, comes in regularly, its wee Kate and she lives right next door, and she will pop over and see you and make sure everything is ok.
O recently had a feedback that suggested I modernise the bach., this won't happen, its meant to be a typical bach, and modern will ruin the setting in the middle of the mountains.. Some guests have mistaken this for a motel, its not , its a great Kiwi Bach, that I love, and just wanted to open it up tp others.
The entire cottage is yours to enjoy. We do not live on the premises, (We live 2 hours away in Christchurch), but access to the property is easy once you have booked. I work 24 hour shiftwork, and it is very unlikely that I will be there to meet you. I do have a neighbour, Kate that looks after the property for me.
Please respect the internet usage and please do not download movies, there is only a limited amount per month, and it needs to be available for the next person.
please re read the house instructions, I need to add, this is a Kiwi V
Bach, not a 5 star Hotel.

Even though I do not live in Arthurs Pass, I am available at most times via phone. I am a Locomotive Engineer often driving trains through the area and working 24 hour shift work. If you love trains, you will enjoy the train theme throughout the cottage.
This is a typical self servicing kiwi bach, 70 years old.
The property is a work in progress, I have recently finished tiling the bathroom, and my next project is the wash house. Our cottage is quaint and comfortable but absolutely, not 5 star luxury! Sitting in the middle of the mountains., we love the cottage and really want to share it with others as it seems a shame for it to be left empty when we can't get there.
Enjoy your stay, and clean up after yourselves and please leave the property as you find it, so it is ready for the next guest.
Smoking outside only please and no pets as there is much bird life at Arthur's Pass, and the Keas (NativeParrots) regularly visit.... Please do not feed them as they are vandals and will wreck your windscreen wipers! While you are staying, make yourself at home. Our home is your home.
I am a Locomotive Engineer for Kiwi Rail, I drive freight and coal trains across the South Island, and the world winning Tranz Alpine train. The only female in the South Island driving trains at this stage.
I haves 3 kids, Juanita is a Pilot living in Bahrain, flying 767 and 757 aircraft for DHL freight. Jaydon is in the computer industry living in Christchurch, and he is a very accomplished musician, playing guitar and drums.
