This place is amazing. The porch with the view is breathtaking. Elisabetta's son helped us check in and was very kind. He gave us recommendations of restaurants and beaches. We came in by train and took a taxi from La Spezia. The taxi was $35 to the house but the bus ($1.50) drops you off close to the house as well--about a ten minute walk considering the many stairs you have to climb up to the place. We were happy to not have a car as parking appeared very challenging. Make sure to spend a day at the beach on Palmyra--it is off to the right after you exit the quick ferry over. Beautiful view of Portovenere and crystal blue waters. Thank you for an amazing stay, Elisabetta!

This lovely, quiet apartment with a magnificent terrace and eastern view of islands, Lerici and beyond..really felt like 'home' as the owners used to live here, and left personal touches throughout...definitely one of the best equipped places we have stayed...we were ready to move in... supermarket, restaurants and ferries close by, easy walk into town, though there are stairs and a bit of climb to get to apt, typical of region in (URL HIDDEN) problem if mobility is good. Nicolo met us at ferry and guided us in...we LOVED staying here.

We were in contact with Ricardo for check in. We meet him in La Spezia to pick up keys and he gave us information for parking and how to find the apartment. We had to circle for a little while to find parking. He gave us good instructions and let us know if there were any issues he was available to help. Parking was not that easy for us in Portovenere, but it could have been easier if we paid more to park closer. You can not park at the apartment, but it is in a great location for walking/exploring the town. The night we arrived at the flat it was pouring rain, we drove on the narrow/winding one way road to reach the stairs to the flat and drop off the luggage. It was stressful probably mostly because of the rain. There is paid pretty parking close, or a long term lot a walk/bus ride away (we walked to get the car from this lot later and it took about 25 minutes going up the hill, it was uncomfortable walking on the road at times when cars would speed past you, so maybe taking the bus would have been a better idea). The picture of the beautiful balcony was the reason we chose this apartment, and in person it did not disappoint. You have a really breathtaking view. The weather was not great for most of the time we were in Portovenere, but if it had been warmer we would have "lived" on the balcony. Portovenere was perfect for visiting Cinque Terre. We took a ferry from town (a short walk from the flat) and the ferry was really nice. It was so beautiful on the water, and such a "wow" view as you approached the towns. The town we stopped at were packed with people, so it actually was really nice to get on the calm boat and rest. Of note, one day while we were there it was not raining, but the ferry was not running due to rough waters. The apartment was clean, and I liked some of the furniture. You are staying at their home where they live part of the year, so you are staying with some of the family things like photos of children. There were guide books and maps to look through.

This apartment was absolutely gorgeous. The photos do not do the porch justice - it is huge! We loved our time here. A few minor cons include extremely low water pressure, noisy children running around and crying directly above the bedroom, and rather strict house rules. The towels, sheets, and blankets are pristine and white and rules call out that you are not allowed to use towels to wash off your makeup or bring them to the beach, etc. I think Elisabetta and Ricardo could provide a pair of cheap beach towels to the guests. Who travels thousands of miles with a towel in their suitcase? No one! So it was kind of amusing to read "please use your own beach towels" in the rule book upon our arrival, and I definitely lived in fear of doing something that they would later charge me for (didn't happen, though). Parking is extremely expensive, so keep that in mind if you are driving around the country. My husband and I opted to park in the only affordable lot, which was a 20 minute uphill walk from the apartment, and that meant that we had a nice warm-up hike each morning to the car, which we then drove to La Spezia to take the train to Cinque Terre. We didn't mind this, but if you are not interested in that much hassle, consider staying in one of the Cinque Terre, instead. Overall this was a wonderful spot for launching day trips to Cinque Terre and returning to a quieter location each night. Thanks, Elisabetta and Ricardo!

This apartment was clean and decorated very lovely. It had a great view of the ocean from the terrace. Ricardo met us at the La Spezia train station and guided us to the bus station. Both him and Elisabetta were friendly and prompt in communication. The water pressure is a bit low in the shower. The apartment is located very close to Portovenere, although it is up a hill and a few flights of stairs so may not be good for guests with mobility issues.

This was a wonderful, spacious apartment, with a beautiful view. The apartment is quiet, close to town, with an inviting balcony (just like the pictures). We really enjoyed our stay. I highly recommend it! Ricardo met us when we arrived and showed us the best place to park for the duration of our stay. This was extremely helpful.

From the time that we arrived until the time we left, Elisabetta and her husband Ricardo were fantastic hosts. Ricardo met us at the property to let us in, helped with our bags and made sure everything was in order--they even arranged for a crib and a baby chair for our daughter. We had some questions on a few logistical items (how to plug in the heater, etc.) and they were always available by phone, email or text. Couldn't have been better. The location is great, only a 5 minute walk to the main town center of Portovenere, with a grocery and an Italian version of a bodega (with extended hours) just steps away. The apartment was well stocked with cooking utensils, which we actually used to eat a couple meals on the patio... the view is AMAZING. Definitely the jewel of the property. The second bed is actually a fold-out bed in the kitchen (took us a few minutes to realize), but it's actually really comfortable and has a wooden frame so you don't get that bar in your back you get with some fold out beds. Other comments have mentioned issues with the wifi, but we didn't have any problems connecting or using it at all. From Portovenere we toured the very charming town, and then took a boat from the main square to the Cinque Terre towns for a hike. Easy to get tickets--make a quick day trip and then retire to the beautiful view on the patio for a drink. Overall a really great start to our vacation!
