HALE KEALOHA KIKENEI O‘ KAMALANI
Aloha and Welcome to Hale Kealoha Kikenei o‘ Kamalani and the beautiful garden island of Kauai. We are so thrilled to share our home with you. We hope you love it as much as we do. We’d like to take this opportunity to ensure that you stay, safe, enjoyable and all that it can be. To that end, a couple of recommendations:
•Be a good neighbor.
a.Princeville is an awesome neighborhood and we are blessed to be surrounded by caring neighbors who are filled with Aloha. To that end, it is important to remember that we live in a residential neighborhood.
b.Keep noise to a minimum, especially before 8:00 a.m. and after 9:00 p.m. Chances are that your neighbors have to get up and go to work the next day, so please be considerate.
c.Turn off outdoor lights at night whenever possible. We enjoy our dark nights when the stars are bright and beautiful,
•We have a non-smoking ordinance in Hawaii. There is no smoking within 20 feet of all public buildings and there is no smoking inside Hale Kealoha.
•Trash, Recycling and Conservation:
a.Empty trash daily so as not to attract bugs. The trash cans are around the back of the house. Trash pick-up is on Wednesday mornings early, so if can, please put out the 64 gallon can on Tuesday evenings.
b.Whenever possible, please recycle. We recycle glass, newspaper and aluminum, you may place these items in the recycle containers in the garage and we will transport to the transfer station. Ask us how if you want to compost organic waste. As with other island communities, Kauai’s landfill is stressed to the limit. Anything you can do to help will be appreciated for generations to come.
c.For the sake of our Aina, remember to conserve energy. Ceiling fans, lights and small appliances should be turned off when leaving the house. Turn off all exterior lights before retiring in consideration of your neighbors.
•Since it is a long tradition in Hawaii to remove one’s shoes before entering any house, please follow our custom and leave shoes outside the doors to minimize dirt and floor damage from sand.
•Please use garden hose by the garage to remove sand from feet before entering the house. Use the outdoor shower whenever possible, it’s great for washing of the salt and warming the bones.
•Laundry facilities are in the house, please empty lint filter after each use.
•You are responsible for all furnishings, including table service, dishes, cookware and bedding. If you notice missing or damaged items, please let us know immediately.
•Mildew can quickly grow in our tropical climate, so please don’t leave wet towels or clothing on beds or furniture. Please avoid sitting on furniture with suntan products on.
•And finally, but most of all, please enjoy your visit to our beautiful island!
Mahalo nui kokua,
Teng and Mike
