CLOSED TILL MID MAY At the edge of a wildflower meadow overlooking the mountains, this beautiful canvas cabin has two queen beds, lamps, sofa and deck. Our four glamping tents share a lovely new Bath House. Common country kitchen in our Lodge. Gorgeous land. 40 acres of meadows, woods, pond, streams and trails. Nightly bonfires and star gazing … a nearby lake … raft the Hudson right nearby. Easy drive off 87.

Prostor

This lovely new canvas cabin ... a marvelous “glamping” tent ... is built on a deck and fully furnished. Enjoy a comfortable bed with hand-made feather quilts and pretty antique furniture. In the tent, there are lights, oriental rugs, a sofa and decorations. There is a front deck with Adirondack chairs, and off the back is a private porch with beautiful flowers.

We have four glamping tents, Glamp Richard, Glamp Suzanne, Glamp Bernice and Glamp Thomas which are spaciously set apart for privacy yet an easy walk to the Bath House and our renovated barn where there is a common kitchen. Elsewhere on the property we have three cabins, Authentic Adirondack Bird Camp which has two bedrooms, Farmstand Guest House and Camp Hudsonview (each with one bedroom), all of which are listing on this site.

The tents have a “fly” over them so they stay remarkably cool during the day and completely waterproof. At night, zip up the canvas windows and doors, and stay cozy under handmade feather quilts.

The new Bath House has a women’s side with two toilets, a shower and double vanity with glass vessel sinks; ditto for the men’s side. In the nearby barn/lodge, there is also a lovely new bathroom with an old-fashion claw foot tub where you can enjoy a deep bath with lavender salts. We provide nice towels and soap.

There is a clothesline outside where we hang the sheets to dry so they get a fresh mountain smell (I’m in love with my clothesline and enjoy hanging the linens out to dry).

In the barn, there is a large country kitchen with individual refrigerators for each tent as well as several sinks, a stove, microwave, toaster, utensils, cutting boards, glasses and the basics for putting together a nice meal. Outside are several charcoal grills and a gas grill. There are jars of granola, cereal, coffee, tea, sugar and such. There are boxes of chocolate, graham crackers, marshmallows and sticks for “smores” making.

At dusk, we get the bonfire going so guests can relax in hand-built Adirondack chairs to watch the fire and the stars. There is no “light pollution” so it is an amazing experience to see thousands of stars, night clouds, moonscapes.

At one time, we had woodstoves in the tents but found them to be dangerous so there is no heat in the tent. The Lodge has heat and the Bath House has some heat, but you'll need to snuggle in at night under the down comforters to stay warm.

We have a flock of free ranging chickens that are very sweet and enjoy handouts of leftover salad, bread and such. They can be picked up easily and are very friendly. Also there are eight shy sweet ducks that waddle around the property; the ducks greatly enjoy it when there is fresh water run into their little swimming pool they are so joyous when they’re in water. The ducks are sweet but shy away from people (oh no! humans!). Unlike the chickens that wander all day and come back together only to sleep, the ducks are co-dependent and stick together all the time; if one duck is separated, they all quack until they get back together. So yes, country life can be noisy with the chickens cackling and the ducks quacking!

And of course there is Sammy Dog, a lab/shepherd mix, who bounds around the property, visiting all our guests, laying down on the porch and steps waiting for people to come home. Be careful coming down the driveway because he sometimes leaps unexpectedly in front of cars all goofy and happy. He can come in and even sleep over if you want (just send us a text message so we know where he is).

The lake is three miles down the winding road …13th Lake it is called and it is just beautiful. Totally natural and quiet with no sign of civilization on its shores. The Hudson River is at the bottom of our mountain; clear beautiful water; you go tubing or rafting with the various rafting companies located right nearby.

The town of North Creek is five miles away off the main Route 28 road but it’s easy to miss so look for the 3 or 4 signs that mark the entrance to “town”. North Creek is a scenic little town with some great restaurants, a grocery store, liquor store, some shopping places and a scenic train called the Saratoga/North Creek Railroad which takes folks in antique train cars along the Hudson River.

Gore Mountain Ski Center is off Route 28 in North Creek. Frequently they run the gondola so for about $18 a person, you can take the gondola to the top of the mountain …. Incredible views, beautiful fresh air, a lovely experience. All kinds of hiking at Gore Mountain.

Another great experience is nearby Garnet Hill Lodge, an historic lodge offering lunches and dinners … beautiful property, amazing views, great food. It’s located right up the road in North River. They rent mountain bikes and have all kinds of walking trails.

So .... Enjoy amazing mountain day views and glorious stargazing by night ... this might be the most special vacation you’ve ever had! Quiet and tranquil … safely and privately located at the edge of our Hobby Farm where you can enjoy a beautiful tent, ducks and chickens, a sweet lab dog and a gentle pony.. If you're looking for additional space, we have other cottages on the property as well ...

Note: We have just finished building a beautiful cabin called Camp HudsonView! If this listing is booked, take a look at Camp HudsonView ... located at the most private end of our 40 acres with stunning views of the Hudson River, this sweet cabin is delightfully decorated and ready for summer 2017 vacations.

The four glamping tents share a beautiful new Bath House which has a women’s bath and a men’s bath, each with showers. Our renovated barn which we call the Lodge has a common country kitchen with individual refrigerators, dishes, utensils, stove and sinks.

We have two kayaks which we can deliver to the nearby lake for you for a modest fee.

Guests are invited to pick from our garden. We like to spend a few minutes with guests to show them what’s in season and how to harvest. Usually there is salad mixes, herbs, peas until it gets too hot for them and later in the summer, finally, tomatoes!

There is a chicken coop where guests can get their own eggs. The ducks lay eggs in various spots under the bushes here and there.

We have 40 acres of rolling beautiful property with varying mountain vistas, several ponds, open glorious wildflower meadows, apple orchards, streams and woods. So when folks ask where to go hiking, we suggest they start right here on the property first!

WHAT IS GLAMPING?
“Glamping" --- a combination of glamorous and camping --- has recently become popular with vacation travelers and outdoor enthusiasts who want to be outside in a beautiful natural environment without the hassle of pitching a tent or sleeping on the ground. The idea of roughing it during a camping trip might sound appealing to many vacationers if it weren't for having to consider, gather, purchase, pack and then carry in everything you need to go camping. That is where “glamping" comes in --- it's an already set-up tent with a beautiful bed, a nearby hot shower and fairy lights. The trend is growing in popularity --- starting in Europe --- now here in the United State: glamorous camping, otherwise known as glamping.

When “glamping", there's no tent to pitch and no sleeping bag to unroll. Instead, visitors arrive to find a beautiful canvas tent set up on a wooden platform, a bed made up with nice linens, a nice bathroom nearby and a blazing fire with Adirondack lawn chairs around it. Add gorgeous views of Gore Mountain, a scenic Hobby Farm with its scenic gardens and a few gentle farm animals set amoungst acres of Adirondack wildflowers, and it's a slice of heaven.

HISTORY OF CAMPING

'Camping out' is becoming merely a name for moving out of one's permanent habitation and dwelling for a few weeks in a well-built lodge, smaller than one's home, but as comfortable and almost as convenient; with tables, chairs and crockery, carpets and curtains, beds with sheets and blankets on real bedsteads, a stove and its full outfit of cooking utensils, wherefrom meals are served in the regular ways of civilization… This misnamed camping out has become a fashion which seems likely to last till the shores are as thronged as the towns, and the woods are spoiled for real campers…."
~ Rowland Evans Robinson, In New England
Fields and Woods, 1896

"From my experience and observation, I am thoroughly convinced that camp-life in dry places, and at a reasonable altitude above the water, especially in a pine grove, has a wonderful effect in benefitting and restoring weak lungs."
~ The Adirondacks as a Health Resort, 1886

If you are up for something a bit off beat and out of the ordinary then you have to give this place a try. Every attention to detail is thought of even a last minute invite to make wood fired pizza in their Pizza Hut. The bathrooms are immaculate and trendy and the lodge is so ADK. It's not the place for the stuffy or those who want 5 star quarters but if you want to look up and see the real stars at night while having a fun conversation with other travelers by the light of a campfire then this is the place. Don't let the address 88 Cemetary Road scare you away...love this place and will be back for sure!

We stayed at Glamp Thomas. The tent and bathrooms were clean. Sammy, the farm dog, showed us all around the farm. He was so sweet to be around. Leslie and Emaline showed us around the property and made us feel very welcomed. The pizza in the wood stove was so yummy. Sitting around the campfire meeting the other "glampers" was fun. The Milky Way is so incredible to see! I hope we can make it back for another trip. It's really a one of a kind place!

Leslie's place and the area is out of a storybook! A great place for those who love the outdoors! We loved kayaking on 13th lake, talk about pristine. All the guest that stayed were great to meet and talk with around the camp fire. The small town of North Creek was also charming, some cute shops and good places to eat. Pizza making night was a great touch as well! Also the Lodge has plenty of space to bring your own food to make a nice dinner if you would like. Would certainty recommend!

Leslie's place is not to miss if you're in the Adirondacks! It is a perfect place to relax in the woods with top of the line glamping accommodations. Sammy (the farm dog) took my husband and I on a walk on the property trails. We didn't even need to bring a map! Leslie also fired up the wood-fired pizza oven and we all made pizza together. Super delicious and fun! And probably the most impressive (coming from a city girl) is that you can see the milky way! I was in awe of how many stars you could see!!

We absolutely loved staying in one of the glamping tents at Leslie's. The meadow is beautiful, the tents are cozy with comfy beds and ample space. The walk to the bath house and lodge is quick and pretty and both are clean, homey and charming. The chickens, ducks and dog are awesome! You can bring your own food and cook/grill or there are quaint little towns all around. We checked out Thriteenth Lake and also waded into the Hudson. It is quiet and peaceful. Pure relaxation!

We live on the property so we're around to make recommendations for swimming, rafting and dining. We get the nightly bonfire going, and keep the common kitchen and bathroom clean, but otherwise leave guests to enjoy themselves on their own. During the day, we’re pretty busy with the mowing, firewood, painting projects and laundry, but it is pleasant to spend some time with our guests to hear about life outside the Adirondacks!

O domaćinu: Leslie

Through lucky circumstances and financial help from my family, I own a precious 40 acres atop the Adirondack Mountains, which includes a small cluster of buildings including my great-grandparents’ century-old camp which is on the National Register of Historic Homes. I have the honor to have vacationing guests from all over the world who come and leave with generous notes of thanks for having had the opportunity to live as I do with my children now, and as my grandparents and great-parents once did here. We treasure our farm-like setting reminiscent of an 1800’s farm with pleasant meadows, beautiful mountain views and brilliant star-filled nights, and I am grateful to my family for helping us preserve this special place.

Besides this property that I treasure, the other two cornerstones of my life are my daughters Emeline and June who are both a tremendous help with guests. Emeline, twenty years old, is headed off in the fall to study business at the local community college, and she is putting away her earnings to make it happen. My daughter June, fourteen years old, helps out at home by doing much of the cooking. When you come to visit us, it will most likely be Emeline who will greet you, give you a tour, introduce you to our farm animals and make fires for you at night.

These times are particularly poignant for me since I recently lost my father whom I treasuredHe was 90 and in excellent health until the last year of his life. In the spring of 2015 when diagnosed with terminal cancer, he became determined to help me build an income producing estate -- our vacation glamping tents and cabins --- so that I could get on my feet financially and finish raising my daughters. His help was not only financial, but he offered excellent advice (someday soon I hope to organize and print some of the hundreds of emails written over the last year of his life to me) ---- sage advice about marketing, budgeting, construction details. In September 2015, my brother Thomas Clement brought my father to the Adirondacks for one last visit before his demise; I will always treasure the memory of my father walking through the wildflower fields so pleased at how everything looked …. One last time square dancing together …. One final time to have my father sleeping in our home and sharing all his memories of the Adirondacks … My father died in February 2016 peacefully. I am bereft at losing my father, but I go forward with him in my heart forever. I too will take another step, as my father always advised.

Meanwhile, from somewhere, I’m sure my father is so pleased to see how well things have worked out … lovely guests, gorgeous property, rental income, great reviews. It’s all happening!
