North Cottage, which sleeps four guests in two bedrooms, lies in lovely countryside five miles from Barnard Castle, Co Durham. It is one of three neighbouring and very secluded self-catering cottages, converted from Thwaite Farmhouse and Barns in 2006. From the doorstep are moorland, woody and riverside walks, superb (if hilly) cycling and great views across Teesdale. Dogs welcome on request. We are happy to take short breaks too, please ask. Cleaning fees apply to rentals over 2 weeks.
North Cottage is cosy yet spacious, and attractively furnished. On the ground floor is a good-sized kitchen/dining room, a dual-aspect sitting room with television, open fire and French doors to the garden, a utility room, a bedroom with king-sized bed and a family bathroom. On the first floor is a twin bedroom with ensuite bathroom.
The cottage is next-door to two other two-bedroom holiday cottages; all were converted from Thwaite Farmhouse and Barns in 2006. You could rent all three at once for a party of family or friends (sleeping, in total, 12). The cottages sit at nearly 800ft altitude surrounded by beautiful open countryside and there are magnificent far-reaching views.
You'll have the place to yourselves, including a private garden, as this is a dedicated holiday cottage. The setting is extremely secluded, on a small country lane 5 miles from the nearest town, but there are two adjoining holiday cottages, so you may have some neighbours! Even though it's so peaceful, North Cottage is easy to reach, being just a couple of miles from the A66 (but well out of sight/hearing).
