Interesting and fun Samurai experience for kids(15 n 11yo). Started off with wearing the layers of samurai kimono, then learnt about basic manners like entering the house, opening the door, sitting on Japanese cushion, and how to kneecap moonwalk to hand over document 😂
After a short break, the 2nd hour begins with how to weild the sword and then cutting the tatami. Then adjourned indoor for basic matcha tea ceremony, and whole session concluded with certification giving ceremony!
Would highly recommend this airbnb experience, very glad that we managed to squeeze into our Kamakura itinerary, coz the class only open every Wed.
And Ooshiro and Tom are very kind to allow my mom n me to stay around to take pix, and include us in the tea ceremony!

The experience is just the right mix of education and fun. You gain insight into basic Japanese customs and have the opportunity to practice the basics with a samurai sword.
Activity and attention are required. You practice what the teacher shows, and although it is not easy at all, it is all fun. When you finally master the basics the feeling is very rewarding.
Everything is given in an easy and pleasant form.
It was time well spent and the two hours goes by unnoticebly.

We really loved the samurai experience! I advise going there early to find the location in case you get lost and wearing the kimono takes some time. We had some samurai training at first before sword training. It was amazing being able to learn how to cut tatami with a real katana, we felt really cool! They then served us some sweets and matcha then finally giving us certificates and halloween omiyage after the experience. Much recommended!

This is a unique and unforgettable experience in Kamakura. We learned a lot of things about samurai culture, behaviour, and skills, such as using a katana to cut tatami mat, wearing and folding a kimono, and giving gifts. Ooshiro and his team guided us and taught us many new things that we would not have learned if we did not book the experience.
