We avoid the crowds! We meet and begin at the Kinabalu Yacht Club (KYC), at Kota Kinabalu's main beach, Tanjung Aru. We start with some basic instruction on the beach, before heading out to the nearby floating pontoon, clownfish (Nemo!) field, coral bar or sand bar, depending on the tide and weather conditions. This Discovery Tour lasts between 2 and 3 hours, depending on weather and your fitness level, and is available from 7am to 7pm. The sunset session starts at 4:30pm but usually does not include the snorkeling part, due to usually rougher seas and higher tide levels. The morning session (starting at 8am) generally enjoys the best weather (and flattest seas), which means we can then also discover the area best and do a bit of snorkeling (clownfish colony) around the sand and coral bars. This SUP package includes board, paddle, snorkeling mask, safety equipment, numerous GoPro action photos and videos, and a post-paddle drink.

Each session lasts between 1 and 2 hours. The experience is available twice a day. The morning session starts at 8am, and the sunset session starts at 4:30pm. Other time slots (sunrise session for example) are also available upon request. Morning sessions usually enjoy better weather and seas.

Starting from the beach at the Kinabalu Yacht Club, we paddle at an easy pace to the floating pontoon, clownfish field (for a little bit of snorkeling), sand bar and coral bar (weather permitting). After the session, showers are available from the Yacht Club, as well as Food & Beverages.

Its the perfect way to explore the beach and the sunsets. Nick was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable and also funny! I had so much fun in the experience (i even fell twice and was laughing about it). Its a must do if you’re in this city. The sunsets in this beach is magnificent!
