Što ćete raditi

Join me and learn how to make delicious dango, one of the most popular Japanese sweets, and enjoy them with Japanese tea. You're in for a fun and sweet time!! This class takes place at a temple surrounded by nature in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka. When you get here, I'll give you a quick tour around the temple. Then you'll put on Kappogi, Japanese-style apron, to get started on your dango making experience at the temple's tea house. You are going to make two kinds of dango, exclusively using organically-grown, plant-based ingredients: Kushi-dango (skewered dango dumplings), and Chakin-shibori (dango formed by wrapping it in a cloth and squeezing it). Don't have any experience in making sweets? Need not worry! I will assist you step by step to make exquisite dango! Also, if you're not comfortable sitting on the heels, please let me know. Once you're done making dango, now it's time to savor them with various seasonings, such as anko (red bean paste), kuromitsu (brown sugar syrup) or kinako (soybean flour), while sipping green tea which goes perfectly with the sweet dango. At the end of the class, let's offer a prayer at the main hall to conclude this wonderful experience.

Located at the foot of Mt.Nuki-san in Kitakyushu, the temple was built in 1239 during the Kamakura Period. The idyllic landscape of the surrounding area will make you feel like you're in a Ghibli movie. The temple's main hall was burned down during a war in the 19th century and had since been abandoned until a bartender-turned-priest brought it back to life in 2014. Today, the temple serves as a peaceful sanctuary for many locals.
