Pick up in Waterloo Place, Edinburgh and take the thirty minute drive through picturesque East Lothian arriving at the stunning setting of Glenkinchie Distillery, home of the Edinburgh Malt.

Guided tour of the distillery where you will learn about the art of producing single malt scotch whisky, you will then be welcomed into the bar area for a complementary tasting of two single malt whiskies.

After your tour it's a short drive to the award winning, family run Mercat Bar and Grill at Musselburgh where you will enjoy three Scottish dishes paired with three Single Malt whiskies which will enhance both the flavour of the food and the whisky.
Cullen Skink - thick Scottish soup made with smoked haddock, potatoes and onions.
Haggis, Neeps and Tatties - Scotland's national dish of haggis, mashed potato and turnip.
Clootie Dumpling - a rich, spiced and festive Scottish pudding.

Return to Waterloo Place, Edinburgh having enjoyed Scottish Single Malt Whisky, traditional Scottish food, beautiful Scottish countryside and great Scottish banter!

Whisky has always been one of my passions and I have worked previously as a guide at Glenkinchie Distillery in East Lothian, Scotland where I could share with visitors from all over the world my love of whisky and it's history.
Wishing to increase my knowledge of whisky I took part in the worlds first accredited whisky training programme in 2016 and qualified as a Whisky Ambassador.
I also regularly take individuals or small group tours to various distilleries throughout Scotland.

I will transport you in my private tour vehicle to the beautiful Glenkinchie Distillery home of the Edinburgh Malt where you will receive a guided tour.
We will then move on to a local restaurant where my guests will be served a specially selected traditional Scottish menu exclusive to my tour. With each dish I will select a fine Single Malt Scotch Whisky to compliment the flavours whilst describing the characteristics and history of each whisky.

Neil’s whiskey tour is not just filled with a vast amount of knowledge of whisky but gives a rare personal touch that I found absolutely endearing. I would recommend this tour to those who are truly wanting to learn more about Scottish whisky tasting and history. There is a sense of personal thoughtfulness that you won’t find in any other tour of this kind. Neil is truly an expert in the field of whisky and by the end of the evening, had a non whisky drinker like me develop a true appreciation for the history and make of whisky. We couldn’t have been happier!

Absolutely fantastic experience hosted by Niel from Saltire Executive Tours! Everything from the transport right the way through to the friendliness and knowledge of whisky and other current affairs was top shelf. The Glenkinchie Distillery is a must visit and Niel's choice of whisky pairing with traditional Scottish lunch was sublime! Would highly recommend this to anyone looking for something worthwhile doing while in Edinburgh and surrounds.

This was a nice tour we had with Neil. The drive was very comfy and the tour at the distillery was great. The lunch was a nice experience and we learned lots of new things about whisky. Can recommend if you have the day to do it.

Absolutely wonderful experience! From the drive to Glenkinchie to the 3-course lunch, everything was fantastic! Neil is super knowledgeable, friendly, and overall a great host. The tour with Natalie was over the top as she allowed us to sample whiskies that weren’t even Glenkinchie. But the best part by far was the lunch and whisky pairing with Neil! I can confidently say I’m able to nose a whisky (not to the degree of Neil, but hey, it’s a start!) If you have half a day to give up while in Edinburgh, don’t hesitate to book this tour. You will not be sorry!
