Are you crazy about meat, cheese, and gravy? You came to the right place! Meet Portugal's most iconic sandwich, the "Francesinha"!
This Portuguese beast sandwich is not for the faint of heart. It is a one of a kind that will make your taste buds dance.
Join us online using Zoom and take a bite on a Frenchie that we will cook together for one hour and half. And everything from the safety of your kitchen. By the end of this workshop you will have your sandwich smothered in chesse and gravy ready to eat!

We will share and show you step by step how to prepare this beauty from scratch, following the traditional recipe that will make you drool. Vibrant, pungent, marvelous gravy, cheese, and meat that will up your meal game to the next level.

We will use everyday kitchen utensils and easily obtainable ingredients. This cooking experience is suitable for everyone (not exactly diet friendly), and after the booking you will receive a guide containing all the necessary information to participate in this sandwich extravaganza!

If you do not like cheese, do not worry because we can adapt to cater to everyone’s taste.

Hello, I’m José! together with my longtime friend João, we decided to promote and celebrate one of Portugal greatest aspects, its food! Being two food enthusiasts, that traveled around the globe shearching for the best bite, we came up with the idea of opening a Cooking School in Portugal, to show case Portuguese culinary, history and culture, from our home town, Lisbon, to the world! With our combined experience on gastronomy and Portuguese food we want to take you on a journey that you will never forget!

Jose was an excellent host and we very much enjoyed our francesinha. He was very friendly, detailed and thorough, making it easy to follow along. 10/10 recommend.

This was an amazing, fun experience, that I did with my brother for his birthday, and our franceshinas turned out so delicious! I was very impressed with the great instruction, personalization, and explanations... and how absolutely perfect the steak in the middle of the sandwich turned out! I have a lot of extra sauce that I will probably use on pasta, potatoes, eggs, you name it! A couple tips: You'll want cured sausage links (not raw or ground), a cheese that's soft and easy to melt, plus two bay leaves and an optional small chili, like a bird's eye chili; I ended up using a dash or piri piri sauce. Also a small-ish oven-safe dish or skillet that you can use to cook the sauce-covered sandwich in the oven. I used a top sirloin steak. And the fattier the bacon, the better. For the beer, I used a 12-oz. can of blonde ale. For the liquor, I followed our host's recommendation & used half cognac & half of my nice, expensive port (only 2 oz.), just for the flavor. Our host was super flexible, friendly, patient, and helpful. Also just a fantastic chef who knows his stuff! Muito obrigada!

This is our second class with Jose and João and we loved it!! The sandwich is so flavorful and incredibly delicious! It definitely tasted like something unique and special. We've never eaten anything like it before- it was amazing! Jose and João are really personable and friendly people. They give clear instructions and are helpful every step of the way. We'll definitely be making this recipe again! Highly recommended! Awesome food & awesome people :)

This is our second experience with Jose and Joao after doing the peri peri chicken. Joao does an amazing job of making a technical complicated dish seem so easy. The pace was perfect, the story telling amazing and the command of english perfect. This is going a be a new Sunday lunch favorite. Waiting now for another Portuguese dish to sum up the hattrick.

I really like the experience. Jose and Joel are great hosts, very friendly and nice. The atmosphere was great. The sandwich is great and really unusual one, and it has an interesting story behind. Highly recommend to take this experience and to add some Portuguese taste to your kitchen.
