Što ćete raditi
On this walk we will see the imposing Parliament House, the oldest continually used Government House in Australia, and iconic memorials dedicated both to war and some of our noted citizens and influencers. This cultural tour also takes in the State Library, the old Destitute Asylum, the old Police Barracks, the Art Gallery of SA and the University of Adelaide and encapsulates the very best that the city has to offer. We start at Parliament House, which took 50 years to build before moving onto our first War Memorial erected in 1904 and the adjacent imposing Government House. A walk along North Terrace takes us past Prince Henry Gardens peppered with memorials dedicated to noted South Australians as well as an important early explorer, Matthew Flinders. The striking heritage architecture in Adelaide is notable, making a great contrast with the more contemporary modern buildings. Some of the older heritage style buildings date right back to the 1860's and have been well preserved for our viewing. We then pass by the iconic main War Memorial dedicated initially to the Great War and then visit the beautiful State Library of South Australia with its 1880's historic Mortlock Wing. A little visited area in behind North Terrace is the old Destitute Asylum and the old Mounted Police Barracks, which provoke many stories relating to crime, degradation and the human struggle to survive.

I have Tourism and Travel Qualifications through both TAFE and Tour Guiding certification through Flinders University. I am also an accredited tourism business with South Australian Tourism Industry Council. As well as practical experience for the past 7 and a half years. I have been running Down to Earth Tours as a business since 2014 and love sharing stories with visitors to Adelaide with little known information that they may not discover generally. I have always had an interest in history and culture and love helping guests discover what makes Adelaide unique compared with other cities, especially within Australia. A local guide with local knowledge.

I highly recommend Graeme's walking tour of Adelaide. He's super knowledge of the history of the city and the buildings on the tour, and was very enjoyable to listen to. The tour itself doesn't involve too much walking from a km point of view, but is densely packed with information and cultural highlights of the city.

Fabulous! We all thoroughly enjoy the walk with Graeme, he was so engaging and shared his extensive local knowledge generously. We particularly appreciated the way Graeme customised the tour for a group of women by sharing the history of some of Adelaides iconic women. Highly recommend.
