Turda town crossed by Aries river, part of Transylvania, is gifted with such a rich food culture with beautiful landscapes, orchards, vineyards, salt mine and with a rich gastronomic history, having this opportunity to offer to visitors a unique food experience involving local producers. You will experience cooking local and regional dishes, will taste the local wine made on the salt mine hills since the roman empire times and you will have the opportunity to pick seasonal fruits and vegetable which we will use for jam making or even (if will be in season) you can experience wine making. We will prepare and cook together a 6 course meal inspired by old traditional recipes from by the diverse cultures which lived in these regions, using local and seasonal vegetable but also meat, dairy products, fruit and honey in a beautiful green orchard located under the salt lakes. I will be happy to share with you the story and the knowledge of making Turda’s most famous dish, the Turda steak, seasoned with salt from the salt mine and fried in pork fat, served with summer pickles and homemade bread. Everything will start with a visit to our food education laboratory, Turda Community Gastronomic Centre.

I am Marta, mother of three boys and a cook with over 10 years experience in food education, member of Slow Food Turda since 2008. Food was always my passion and in everything I do I try to safeguard local food heritage involving local community and people who share my passion for good, clean and fair food. Gastronomic summer camps, food festivals, gastronomic centre, school gardens or taste education workshops are just a few from the many projects I initiated in my community, this way contributing to preserve the local food culture which I am happy to offer you to experience in a unique way.

Gdje ćete biti

The meeting point will be Turda Community Gastronomy Centre, a food education place which I am very proud of. From here we will go to our orchard located between Aries river and Turda salt hills (under the salt lakes). Here we will start our culinary experience with some home made refreshments and begin to prepare our meals using lot’s of products from our garden, ending up with a six course meal and knowledge about cooking local traditional food
